I just looked at my Alpha Dog, and I don't see scratches. That thing's glossy, and I don't currently have a flying flat over the shooting area, so you're probably seeing a bunch of reflections of stuff around the shooting area--and that's probably what you're seeing.

Shooting super glossy rounded surfaces...it reflects everything. Shooting at f/25 helps minimize some of the more distant reflections (due to light fall-off).

Again, there are no scratches that I'm seeing on my Alpha Dog. That said, I'm a bit rough on my gear, so I imagine it'll soon start to show the patina of use, as I fully intend to carry it around a lot.

I'm slammed right now, so I won't be posting any impressions immediately. I'll say this, though: I prefer it to the prototype, and I loved the prototype (if you couldn't tell in the video). I picked up both the prototype and a production version, just in case I preferred the prototype. It turns out I prefer the production version. It's more refined, especially from the mids on up--and it gives up absolutely nothing to the prototype, to my ears.

I dont see any scratches when I zoom in on the photo. My guess is you're looking at reflections of the lighting in his room

+1

I'm anxiously awaiting my upgrade notification email. Have money set aside and a box prepared to ship the MD back to Dan to Alphasize them.

Hey Jude (never gets old)

One impression I would love to hear when you have had some time to enjoy these phones is your thoughts regarding stock cable vs black dragon.

Even though I know the Mad Dog should be better for one craving bass, if any of you could post impressions on how effective the Very Bass tuning system is once you've received your Alpha Dog I'd be thrilled.

I'll be penning a comprehensive review mostly comparing AD to MD, but with a few other hp's included. MLE will be a contributor to the review. The vary bass adjustment will of course be included.

I'll be posting an extensive review in comparison to my much beloved D7000's.

I would be keen to know this also.
From what I have read the bass extension of the ad smashes the md.
As for impact, quantity and quality I have no idea.
I don't like boom but I love having that impact or punch, which I feel even the md lacks. Could be my setup though as plugged into my phone with *shudder* beats on, even unamped there is bass a plenty... Muddy horrible bass but it's there. Through my ak100 there is little bass, amped or not. But what is there is fantastic.

I was staring at the white scratches streaks in the photos.
