I'm also going to assume these are flatter across the board than the Q701? Can anybody confirm my assumptions?

I REALLY hope I get picked for the tour because I really want to try them.

If I get the chance to be on the tour too, I can make a comparison between the newer K 701 and the Alpha Dog. I'm guessing the Alpha Dog will have deeper bass extension and a smoother treble.

Well, if you're every angry at an owner of a pair of Alpha Dogs, you can pull out the: "I'm gonna key your headphones!"

So is this the new jaded ex-girlfriend tactic ?? Better not let the word get out ......

I recently heard both the Annies and the AD at the same time. For me, the AD outclassed the Annie across the spectrum.  The bass on the AD is incredibly linear and will match the music going down very low and with visceral impact. The Annie never got close to the same bass quality or quality.

The Annie does have great mids...warm and rich with texture. The AD edges out the Annie here by a nose with wonderful tone and timber to vocals both male and female.

The treble on the Annie was a touch hot. Treble on the about perfect. Wonderful extension while never sibilant or harsh.

I see some paintings/posters on the wall. Maybe that means we get a pin-up of that sexy arsh headphone included in the package.

Well that's promising to hear. I was thinking about selling my Q701 to help fund the upgrade to the AD. I'll hear more comparisons sometime over the coming weeks I'm sure, but that's a great start.

What would be an open compliment to to the AD based on your time with them? I'm currently eyeing the X1 and MA900, thanks to MLE's influence.

The compliment to the AD will come down to the user. I'd take an open dynamic driver that is lightweight...ie hd6xx. But that's just me.

How are you liking the AD vs the HE400/500?

I would avoid the MA900 after owning the Q701. It's definitely a downgrade in just about every category. I find the Mad Dogs to be a small, but clear step up from the Q701, so I would speculate the Alpha Dogs will be a clear step up from them. We'll have to wait to see some impressions :)

The AD IMO is considerably better than the he400. The MD vs he500 is a much better fight. Working on a review of several hp's including these two. I'm waiting to have the final production of the AD.

So Matt, you are saying the AD has more bass quantity than the 65th anniversary? The 65th already has more bass than the Q701. So I guess the AD has significantly more than the Q701.

How is the soundstage in comparison? I don't expect quite the same in terms of width, but is the soundstage still good? Do the AD sound congested in anyway?
