They are more than a little hard to deal with. +1 on mrspeakers offering them for sale.

Possibly, but not until after product is shipping.

Maybe a group buy?  The seller may be more interested in selling 25 pairs once than 1 pair 25 times...

I don't think that you're allowed to use that phrase here. You know...that phrase that shall not be mentioned.

In general, group buys are not allowed, except for hard-to-obtain DIY parts or special DIY one-offs (such as circuit boards). These still require permission from an admin before they can be approved, however.

Honestly can't wait for first round of reviews from people who take delivery.

I'll put the connecrtors for sale on the site when I do my next purchase, which should be early October.  Please be patient until then.

Group buys = hell, so we won't be doing those.  It'll be an accessory.

Apologies if this has been covered in this thread and I don't mean to derail, but if parts can be made in-house and can be replicated exactly via a 3D printer, wouldn't that lower the overall cost?  My AS-2 ciem are made via a 3D printer and unlike acrylic shells, won't shatter if dropped.

Anyhow, I look forward to the impressions.  I've been looking for closed headphone with a very open yet neutral sound.  The bass tuner is a plus as it looks like it functions the same as on my AS-2.

3D cups are considerably more labor intensive than injection molding.

3D printing isn't very automated for manufacturing and requires many steps to prep each printer for the next print, prep for painting to get the finish right, etc.  As a result, even without considering the actual plastic or the printers, the cost/unit is much higher than the cost of an injection molded part, and you need many printers to get to volume (we're using quite a few printers).

We went with 3D printers because of the sound, not because the unit cost was low or because it was easy.  I have to say 3D printing was WAY harder to get rolling than the hype would have led me to believe, though in our case I hope you would agree that the outcome was worth it...

Nice reply, Dan (I presume).  Thanks for clarifying some of your methodologies.  Santa may come early :happy_face1:

Any idea when the people will start receiving them? These look really interesting.

Still on track to ship late this month. We have a few schedule risks still, and will update if anything slips. At this point nothing looks like it would delay us more than a week or two.

It's not like we'll form a lynch mob or anything and hunt you down at the midnight if they aren't ready in the next three weeks. :veryevil:

Nah, just keep us up to date and all will be good. I for one want a finished product that is as beautiful to look at as it is to listen to. And I do realize that it may take a little while longer to prepare my carbon fiber version. Kidding people, just kidding.

Any news on the tour?
