Most of his kernels are CM compatible, I have run the Franco-CM combo successfully on Nexus 4 and 5; still waiting on CM support for his N7 2013 kernel though. Check the G2 forum on XDA.

I know I'm late to the party, but only the stock music app allows access to the best bits of the audio subsystem. The only third party music player I'm aware of that doesn't use the generic audio driver is Neutron, and it's playback is glitchy.

I can deal with the stock player's lack of options because it sounds and works better than rest.

The headphone out is hissy when I used my HD25.
