i hear everyone saying beats pro sux for the price you pay, but what sounds better for that price? dont come with audio technica m50 or beyerdynamic 770 pro etc. those cost half the price.
i want to know a 300-400 dollar headphones with heavy bass and is overall just better than the beats. not just the soundstage. i want something with great bass like the beats pro. i love the bass on the pro. also closed cans. i have the open sennheiser hd 598 incl fiio e17. I need it for listening house music

I have a pair of Beats Pro beside me (my portable headphones) and the bass heavy pair of ZMF-modded Fostex T50RP beats it in every single way.

Having just bought the mad dogs myself, I can say that it is a very good choice in that price range. The denon d2k is also a possible option in that price range.

what does the modded mean? did u mod them urself or is this a special edition? can u give me a link where i can buy them?

http://www.zachmehrbach.com/zmf-modified-fostex/ My pair of Beats Pro really aren't that bassy though. They have slam, but there isn't much weight behind it because of the odd lower mids recession.

i have the beats pro atm but i keep reading i can get alot better for this money so i would like to know what ... i got a 60 day return policy. but i love the sound for my type of music
post #7 of 26

What is your type of music? I love both with electronic music. But with the ZMF I can listen to things other than electronic. With the Beats it's like listening to plastic.

i listen a wide range of music, but i want this headphone for house music with some heavy bass in it. for example afflitto by fiocco. zombienation kernkraft wink.gif.
the denon d2000 is hard to find here. how is the denon ah d600?
is this the newest model in the denon series?

The D600 will have more thump, but it sounds thinner than the ZMF, kinda like the Beats Pro. I wanted to like the D600, but the midrange just didn't do it for me.

so the denon d600 and beats pro sound kinda similar?

Sort of. The D600 improves on everything the Beats do (from what I remember the D600 to sound, because the last time I used them was before I got the Beats, but when I listened to the Beats, they sounded familiar). If you don't want to change anything about the sound, I'd go with them.

i am trying to find the denon 2000 but im unable to find them here .

I never really thought the D2000 was that impressive. It only gained attention after it was discontinued, which happens with most things here. It had good subbass, but it just wasn't very sonically impressive otherwise.

the denon d2000s are discontinued, but can still be bought on both amazon and used on the buy/sell forum

Here is a link to the mad dogs, made by Mr.Speakers.

the T50RP mods would scale the best off proper amping, as with many other headphones in that price range, so you might want to take that factor into account.

is my fiio e17 a decent amp for these?
