For Sale:
Stax SRM-1/MK2 (With Recently Replaced Electrolytic Capacitors)

Will Ship To: Anywhere

I bought this about 6 months ago along with a pair of SR-507's as my entry into the world of Stax

I replaced all of the electrolytic capacitors and uprated the main 3 from 100uf to 220uf. The original ones were nearing 30 years old and they typically dry out in less than 10.I also adjusted the bias and the offset. Needless to say it resulted in a marked improvement in the sound quality.

This is the thread I created when I went through the process of recapping this specific amp. It wasn't hard.

I'm selling this amplifier because I liked the Stax sound so much that I decided to buy and recap an SRM-717 and purchase the boards to build a KGSSHV. It's a good little amp but I have no idea what I'd do with a second Stax amp at this point or I'd just keep it.

117V version.
