Ive found it only hisses when loading files from the SDcard. This is only for a few seconds and stops after the song has loaded into the RAM. So basically no hissing.

Perfect. Thanks. Clip+ it is!

I just got in the Westone star tips and I found the tip that fits best but I ears are still sore but I'm thinking it's residual pain from yesterday.

I think it might be the cable so I ordered the FiiO shure cable without the memory wire. Hopefully that's the fix to my woes. Almost immediately when I started trying on tips I was sore.

If that doesn't work I may opt for custom tips. Either that or I'll roll back to the W40s and return the shures.

It's residual. It took a few days before my scabs came out from the abrasions thanks to the foam tips (and actually now I'm back to the foam, I guess my ears toughened up LOL).

WOW I go up to the AI mother ship for a few days (A VIP Screening of Dawn of  the Planet of The Apes - their cautionary tale to Humanity of a world ruled by apes - It will make it easier for the masses to accept the AI and  toil in the Bauxite mines for their/our mechanical  overlords... but I digress more about my extended weekend later)  and I am besieged by Simian disinformation about Burn in.

The Ape Rejects the Scientific method. Recently I came across an excellent piece in Wired Titled Please Stop ‘Burning In’ Your Earphones

Here is the link

http://www.wired.com/2013/11/tnhyui-earphone-burn-in/

It is clear to the point and discusses the "voodoo" behind burn in and Industry complicity and continuing the life of the myth.

Me I just go where the science takes me. It makes life much easier.

The Bliss Liner, the SCS and the 8s perfect. And even that Kevlar cable has its uses when you in are country looking for Apes..(.Find Caesar,..... Kill Caesar)

Despite what I hear about SNAFUS in one pair of SCS being delayed , I feel you unhappiness. I suspect your impressions were hijacked by Simian Fifth Columnists. (they are deep into UPS and FedEx) Keep the faith I sent mine back when they went to Full Shell and I can say it was worth the wait...bliss)

Yes Pictures of the Shiny SCS soon Phone back in the shop back tomorrow. Got Chimp brain ( He wouldn't talk, his :girlfriend" Zira sang after that - find Caesar - Kill Caesar)  in my USB port needs a full cleaning

Let's make it this weekend at San Francisco meet. I be there with some gear and all of us including the mod will be there for some serious burn-in session.

It's not actually 'hissing' hissing. The clip zip does not have a silent noise floor when nothing is playing through SE846 but it disappears during playback, even at modest volume setting. Have come across worse in my time then

I've been struggling with the stock cable for some time in terms of ergonomics.  It pinches my ears.  While I like many of the custom cables, many struggle with making a solid MMCX connection.

Surprisingly, Shure's much maligned Android cable has been my favorite so far.  It lacks the ear guides that I hated about most SE-846 cables and it has a perfect MMCX connection.  I don't notice a drop off in sound from the stock cable.

The biggest complain about this cable has been its durability.  I wonder if there have been multiple revisions of this cable because I can't see how this could break.  While it is thinner than the stock cable, it is reinforced in all the right places.

I highly recommend it for anyone who is struggling with the stock cable.

When you get your Fiio cable? Please update us that the cable is more comfortable than the stock.

This is from a local supplier's webpage here in Australia (where they are actively selling the Fiio cable)

The RC-SE1 is a replacement cable to suit the Shure SE215, SE315, SE425, and SE535, as well as the Ultimate Ears UE900. It features a braid-design silver coated cable and a straight angled audio plug. Please be aware that this cable is quite stiff and microphonic.

Hopefully others have better experiences than this would suggest.

I'm never sure what to think of those complaints. I mean, if I pause the music on the stock cable and rub on it or run my nail along its surface I can clearly hear it, if I tap it I can hear the thumps, but it's not like just light motions are audible and it all vanishes when listening to music. I can't imagine any cable would be devoid of noise simply because the material is directly connect to your ear canals. Gently tap the housing of the 8's and it sounds like a HUGE thump inside your ear.

Well Humans do enjoy looking for something to fix so they tend to search for something that is a problem. Once the crated problem is fixed the cycle re starts thats called an achievement (A pat on ones back).
