Me I just one something better than my iPod.

I really like the Sony BUT for now Japan is not casting its gaze and good stuff at North America it looks good  Design has always been a stron suit of SONY and has to be better than the iPoD and I have a soft spot for them..

Your vote is re the boutique DAPs none of the above.

I think I shall wait to see if SONY brings the ZX1 to NA. Who knows maybe apple will make a next gen iPod that is worth having.

I am patient especially when the toy has new buttons and workings to figure out.

8s easy put them on jack in and go,

If you really want that ZX1, you can just get them from eBay right now!  No need to worry about if they ship it to North America or not.  Just make sure the return policy is on point.  I wound up getting the Microsoft Surface 2 Pro when it first came out faster and cheaper from eBay (shipped to Southern California by way of Canada!)  I'm like you, Monty, I am looking forward to finding out if the new iPhone 6 with iOS 8 will significantly improve the already awesome sound signature I have with the iPhone 5 and my favorite media player!

What do you use as your smartphone?  Could you please tell us the similarities or differences between your smartphone (if you have one) and your X5?  Thanks in advance.

Thank you Truckdriver .

I was about to say...F5?  Wow, something I have absolutely no clue about!  But okay, X5.  I bet you there will be a DAP or an Amp out there called the F5 at some point...oh wow, quick google search shows a First Watt "F5" power amplifier.

Monty, I think it is absolutely mind-blowing that we may have very well changed the game and process for the Sensaphonics Custom Sleeves coupled with the Shure SE846, forever.  More about that later once I can post my darn review.  I'm saying to myself, "gotta keep posting, gotta be patient"...

I love this song on my 846 and W60....check it out. Not my normal listen but really exciting on this caliber of IEM.

Also, it would be great if Monty would describe what the hell this song is about as only he could do smily_headphones1.gif

Ah okay, well please try it out if you can with your MotoX and let us know your findings.  No pressure though.  Okay, maybe a little.

Those are great findings, Dave74!  I definitely feel trying as many different combinations out there is key to your own personal bliss.  Since we have the ability to change filters/mod them as well, the sound signatures can definitely seem "endless", but having those options to tweak the sound signature to our liking is probably why Shure SE846 users really love them, because they are suited to what we feel sound the best.

I agree moedawg140... It's all about what works for you and get you to your personal bliss. As the saying goes one mans trash is another mans treasure, but I think one you get to these price levels there is very little trash and more just preference.  To be honest I have never changed from the stock filter on the SE846 as I have been quite happy with it but it is a nice feature to have.

Yeah, it is just apples and oranges now...but boy, do they taste that much sweeter now!  As for changing the stock filter, I feel that you should most definitely change the filter.  It is a little difficult at first, I must admit, but if you do it a few times and make sure the red paint is lined up inside, you will be able to change out the filters in no-time flat!  I feel that all three of the filters change the sound signature so much, that is vital to change them all out to find out what really suits you.  If you are going un-modded regarding the filters, most people like the white filter, as do I as well, because the highs are raised while keeping the bass that the blue filter emits.  I have changed my filters out so many times (maybe 40-50 times), that I can change out both completely in about 40 seconds.  But yeah, I would behoove you to check out the other filters to further dial in that "personal bliss"!

As for the ZX1 in North America, it certainly isn't covered by the manufacturer's warranty. I'm in North America and the ZX1 was the fastest delivered device I ever received from Amazon. I ordered it late on a Sunday night and received it Tuesday morning. I had 30 days to test it out (which was more than enough time).

Boutique DAPs are not getting it done (for me). I had a brief honeymoon period with the ZX1. I was liking the panned left/right clarity and perceived dynamics. Then, I tuned the Note 3 to do the same thing (but better). Plus, the ZX1 didn't do sub-bass. I couldn't pack the ZX1 up fast enough to ship it back.

I don't know what some of the people praising the DX90 and 846 pairing were listening too previously. I'm guessing that if they heard a Nokia Lumia 1520 (with EQ and Dolby), it would blow their minds.

The money I put away just for this audio hobby is up to $4200 now and there's nothing to buy. The last permanent item I bought for audio was the 846 (last August). I've done some 30 day tryouts but nothing stuck. I was going to buy the Roxanne UF, but I'm becoming less and less interested. Every time I think of hitting the buy button for the AK240,  I yawn. I'm really getting bored with these over-hype trinkets. Perhaps it is time to find a new hobby. Maybe I'll go back to an old hobby....

Moedawg, I laughed when I saw the word “behooved”. It reminded me of a football player turn sports commentator who used behoove incorrectly (sparking emails to a talk radio show). One guy wrote that Deion Sanders mistake was “unbehoovable”.

I'm not really into DAPs as well, but am unfortunately interested in the HL Litz Silver Cables. I am trying to find out more about them, in comparison to the stock Shure SE846 cable, and have contacted the two users on here that own both to give me more-in-depth impressions.

Maybe I have a similar mentality as a NFL football player, as I am a wrestler, but definitely wouldn't want to use the word "behoove" or any other word the wrong way.

All is right in the world.  My Shure's came back from warranty replacement promptly, about a 4-5 day turn around time.  I requested since the left one died that they replace both so I have a matched pair, and no questions asked I received a new pair today!  Very happy with the ease of working with Shure's customer service.  Now I just need to figure out what to do about my damn custom sleeves that keep falling off :/
