Hahaha yeah they're great to immerse in music with and to forget your surrounding.

Has anyone tried any FiiO (DAP/DAC/AMP) with the se846? Any of them work well?

I have the FiiO E18 amp/dac and the C&C BH2 amp running my galaxy S4.

The E18 DAC connects immediately and controls the android players. Its output sound lacks against that of the C&C BH2 (although reasonable)

Found the following configuration to be the best (so far): I added the C&C BH2 as an amp to the E18 DAC;

Galaxy S4 OTG USB >> E18 USB DAC input >> E18 Line out >> C&C BH2 Line in >> C&C BH2 earphones out >> Shure SE846
using silver plated cables for audio interconnect and earphones cable.

Running Viper4Android (V4A) equalizer on the S4 (still searching for the best settings); C&C BH2 all settings are high. The C&C BH2 adds a lot of warmth to the E18 while not affecting the soundsatage.

The results are really good!!! The overall rig does not score portability wise, as the produced sound quality, but I mainly use it at home. The overall price/performance factor is the best I could find.

I also use the E18 as a DAC for my laptop and the C&C BH2 as an amp for my COWON D20.

Was wondering if anyone would be able to do a comparison between the SE846 and the Tralucent 1+2?

really loving my SE846 so far, running them unamped from a Sony DAP at the moment and loving every single minute of it! will be following up by ordering the silver iem cable from headphonelounge soon (as soon as my pockets allow :D)

by the way, do i lose alot by not amping these babies? would appreciate some honest feedback from other more experienced headfiers here. portability is a big big plus for me as my commute is often long and unforgiving. with these though, sometimes i dont want my commute to end :P

In 2 words: 846 has better bass and mids, 1+2 has better treble and soundstage.

I think the 1+2 soundstage is amazing because of the great "wow effect" and airness, but I might prefer the soundstage of the 846 because of the great coherency. I found this level of coherency only on the high end fitears (TG334, 335 especially)  IEM.

After a week of intensive listening, I definitely prefer the 846 over my old JH13, and might even prefer them over my C435 or at least I rank them on the same level. I still prefer my 335 but not by a big margin. So I think the 846 kick asses of a lot of high end customs out there. The bass is one of the best I've heard, it is so natural and effortless while going down so low and being so clean! The mid are great, with a very special texture. The high might be sometime a little too energetic to my ears depending of the tips and the filters I use. I have to dig further about this.

Thanks for the info, and in regards to the treble, does it improve a lot with the use of the white filter? Coz I sometimes find the 1+2 to be slightly sibilant with certain tracks that I play.

I don't think it's a big improvement using white filters and with uber cable I don't have any problems with any of my music.

Once again thanks for the reply. I've tried the uber cable and although it sounds fantastic, I found it a little stiff and I guess more suited for indoor use so I got the silver/gold cable instead. Anyway back to the SE846, how much lower is the amount of treble and does it mean it is less clear than the 1+2?

I am torn between the 846 and the Roxanne Siren...seems the 846 is getting decent reviews. Decisions!

The 846 (and V4A) are turning me into a human bobble-head (with the mild bass and bass drum licks, yet very audible sub-bass).

Eugguy, I was in your boat and I'm very happy with the 846.  At this level, it's a matter of personal preference.  Resale value is important to me and the gap between customs and universals is not very big.  The picture of the Roxanne with the broken connector makes me very nervous about the build quality.

It doesn't help that I was in the group of people waiting years for the underwhelming JH-3A.  On the other hand, Shure replaced my E500s twice.

Actually $300 cheaper. I am interested in the universal model.

Someone pull me into buying the 846 over the Roxanne Siren Universal! Give me some reasons! other than the 73 pages I've read! :)

I don't know that anyone here is a Shure rep interested in selling you an earphone. I will say that the 846 is available now and who knows when the Roxanne UF will arrive at retailers (I'm waiting myself).
