KEF M500/M200 Appreciation Thread - Page 38

The hooks are not purely cosmetic, but actually aid in holding the earphone in place securely. You will render the earphone almost useless if you remove those hooks.

@ericp10

Is there a significant difference between the DN-1000 and M200? I'm really curious which of the two has a warmer signature and is well suited for heavy metal and other fast tempo genres....

The KEF sound works very, very well with rock and metal.

I have the M500's and was blown away when listening to Linkin Park through my iBasso DX50.

If the 200's have the same signature and PRAT then you are onto a winner.

I really hope so... I'm about to make a deal on those M200s.

Thanks!

Somehow I have been managing to be simply enjoying my gear, while at the same time living vicariously through you others lol! You seem to get the iems that I I end up lusting after, so your impressions are gold. Now hurry up and start getting all of the headphones that I'm lusting after too! (L2's, Alpha Dogs, Beyer T51p, NAD HP50's etc!).

:blink: that's too much for me to handle! lol.

I still have to figure out where to get the funds for the L2... wife's gonna kill me :ph34r:

The IE80 has a different sound sig, much more bass oriented. If the M200s have the same sig as M500s (and I believe they do), the sound will be me more analytical. Kef have done good job of excellent clarity and fidelity whilst keeping the sound very engaging.

If you want a bass oriented IEM then the IE80, if not the M200 is worth a close look.

The M200 and M500 signatures aren't anything alike. The M200 has massive clear, tight punchy bass detailed bass, but it's not IE8 bass (which I found kind of muddy... I heard the IE8 and IE80 bass are the same). So, detailed yes, but I wouldn't call the M200 analytical. And the bass is much deeper (provided you get a good seal) in the M200 than the M500.

Is the M200 bass fast enough to handle heavy metal?

Cheers!

Just purchased the M200... here's me hoping I don't get fit issues.

The M500 goes deeper than what my ears can hear. Do you have super-ears?

I would say yes. Not an expert on metal though. Maybe DannyBai can chime in.
