Yeah, me too. But I'm not interested in these headphones anyway. Looks more for average consumers rather than "audiophiles". I expect the sound will be quite bass heavy.

Funny thing is, I looked on the description that MP4Nation gave them, they pointed out that the HM5 is light on the bass blink.gif

Hm5 is bass light. Or do you mean the hm9?
Ps the looks doesn't say anything about its performance. Great phones don't have to be fugly.
Anyway I like the looks of the beats. What I don't like is the price/quality balance of them and the stigma when wearing them.

Really? didn't really feel bass light in my opinion. and I've been using the AKG K450 for about a year and a half now.

When you read the reviews the hm5 is balanced, neutral headphones. In my ears that means bass light. I guess is what I am used too. A fellow head fire called me bass biased.

Did you get a chance to listen to them though?

Yes I have the jaycars version.

What other headphones do you have?

My main headphones are the Qjays, M2s and the Wooduo's 2.use the Wooduo and Qjays most of the time. Dependingw hat i want to listen too.

All 3 are quite good bass wise. Even the Qjays which are dual BA's. So I am kinda spoiled that way.

Dpn't know the k450. According to reviews the k450 has bassy sound signature. Do you find the HM5 equal to the K450 in bass?

Well, I think that the HM5 has more smooth and well-rendered bass in comparison the AKG K450 packs more of a punch and can probably hit harder in the lower frequencies.

Personally, imo the HM5 are bass light. The HM9 have a punchy bass, compared to a pair of beats the HM9 are probably not going to be considered too bass heavy or enhanced bass. To some, like those who find even the HM5 bass quite heavy the HM9 will sound bass heavy.

I have the Q460, which is essentially a K450, and the HM5.  I agree the K450 packs more of a punch and goes much lower than the HM5.  The HM5 is much more balanced, refined, and under controlled in its bass.  The Q460 is fun for me to listen to but the bass does overwhelm--I like that sometimes, though.

I think the HM5 has plenty of bass and is more detailed but not "bass heavy" by any means. I guess I wouldn't call any neutral set of headphones "bass heavy" or "bass light" they're just neutral and controlled. I like the HM5 but it has an unusual sound I can't quite place.  Seems to be detailed at times and muffled other times.

Have you listened to the HM9? Which Beats have you compared it with?

We're actually working on custom 3D cups for the HM5 that open up the sound a little, the overall bass quality is better with the semi open cups, more details here.

Hi razz, didnt notice you are part of MP4 nation. Really enjoyed your Brainwavz M2s. First headphone I really enjoyed.

Have you compared the HM9s with the Vmoda's?

How much would the semi open cups cost?

Ps my remarks om HM5 bass is when I compare. M2s is quite bass friendly, but now I use Wooduo2. i am really spoiled in bass department

There are alot of different kinds of bass and most headphones can't handle all of them.. With regular music, adele...HM5 is fine...but with dance music it misses the thump. It never really has the visceral aspect of the bass. But i guess thats why people call this neutral headphones.
