HDP-R10 questions - Page 2

Hello, AlanYWM -

I'm curious: comparing the DX100 and HDP-R10, are you able to say definitively that one sounds better than the other?

Thanks,

Brian

Hi Brian,

I will PM you later with my inputs because what you are asking me to say is very sensitive to some folks here  etysmile.gif

Cheers,

Hello, friends, I just received my R10, everything great, except that...it has only 29,7smth Gb internal memory?! It shows me the same on Windows 7 when connected, so...might it be somehow defective? Does it has like 2 memory modules inside of which one might not work? Of course I tried every reset and restore posibile, it stil looks to me like a perfect working 32 Gb device. Please, tell me what yours shows under settings- storage- NAND , or any other suggestion, or if you heard of this before. It really ruins my joy, after months of waiting for it !
BIG Thank you!

Ups! So it might be clearly something wrong! Thank you, it seems there is nothing I can do about it but getting used. Pfff! Guarantee is out of discussion, as it took 2 months to receive it in Afghanistan where I am in deployment and I had to order on a friend address. Made the tour of the world and I get the first, unique, 29 gb HDP R 10 unit! smily_headphones1.gif)) that's crazy!
Thanks for not leaving me wondering if I m that stupid not to know where to look after having 2 android phones before.smily_headphones1.gif

Unless you really NEED that extra 32 GB, I would recommend not worrying about it and just buying a micro SD card.

I already bought (don't know how to spell that right) 4x16 Gb Toshiba exceria cards with it as I read those are the best for sound, so it should be no problem, still it's frustrating to have a new toy sort of broken or pay like an Iphone 64 and receive the 32 one, same price. smily_headphones1.gif thank you for the good thought, lin, I'm trying to get used to it.

It really seems nothing good can happen here!

The HDP-R10 was meant for the Japanese market only...

Indeed, anyway, I wasn t intending to use the guarantee , as I live in Romania, and maybe the shipping cost and time it's not worth it, I was planning to find the most professional service just in case I would need it, but never expected to receive it with smith missing, especially since is a JAPAN product, you know the legends.. smily_headphones1.gif Like when you buy a new car you expect to have maybe a missing wheel?!
You are very kind and I appreciate it. I also wrote an email to hibino.
I was reading your posts way before I decided to buy and it helped.
As you are experienced, I wonder, do you have any idea if software reset is the same as hardware reset on it?
And if it has like 2 different memory chips that would explain my problem?
Thank you, lin

Glad I helped. :D

You might be right about the 2 memory chips and they might have forgotten to put the other one in yours. As far as I know, you are the only one with this problem, so yours is quite likely "defective".

As for the hardware stuff, I honestly have no idea, sorry. Perhaps ask on the HDP-R10 thread? People in there may be able to help you more.

Good idea, I will also ask some questions there, thank you, Lin and have a good week end! smily_headphones1.gif

Hi, linn, I just wanted you to see this:

Dear Mr. Andrei

Thank you for your email.

I am very sorry for the problem which you met.
Until now, we have received 2 cases about this problem.
For the reason, we are very agree with what you said, acturally.
There were some mistakes in the assembly process.

We must apologize to you for your HDP-R10.
Your idea will be very helpful for our future products checking.

Best regards,

Hello, Sir, I have just received my unit HDP R10 after months of waiting and it works perfectly but it only has 29 Gb internal memory, verified on the unit and in Windows.
I do not intend to send it for guarantee, it is impossible, I am military in Afghanistan.
I just want to know if you ever seen this before and if it has like 2 internal memory chips and maybe one of them is not working, so is only a 32 one left, showing 29.
Thank you,
Andrei

Have a nice day

Are Hibino offering some sort of compensation?

Hi linn, please excluse my enormous delay, I am in Afghanistan in my deployment, I almost never have internet here..
Hibino Japan spoke to Hibino service in China to repair my unit... I saved this as a last solution, not very convenient to me.
Meanwhile I have managed to have the unit replaced by the seller, JapanMade, with a lot of adventure, through Amazon complain, sent it from Afgh to Jap and from there my wife received it in Romania. Crazy, time and money spent.
JapanMade was really really polite and helpful, we kept mailing for maybe 2 weeks to find a solution for this and they insisted to pay all the taxes and shipping costs.
