I can't stop thinking about the hd800s, but I can't seem to get a good deal on them! :deadhorse:

It's the hd600s, and they actually drive them pretty well for a portable. I'd say they do nearly as good as a job as the little dot mkiii tbh. HD600s will be a better choice for you than the hd650 imo. I found that the he-400s have a really weird upper midrange to treble transition, which is shown in its FR measurements.

Hmm. Upper mid to treble is golden to me. I listen to lots of strings and female vocals.... damn. I guess HE400 is a no go. How's the treble of HD600? I'm worried about them being too recessed. Good luck with HD800 deal! How low do they go for now?

The hd600's treble does not sound recessed to my ears, at least using the uha-6s or a solid state amp. The treble is only a few dB lower than on the UERM imo. Oh, this is with ADA4627 btw. The OPA209 and the stock opamp are brighter than the ADA4627. Honestly, I think you'll really like the hd600s. If i manage to get the hd800s soon, I wouldn't mind lending you my pair of hd600s.

Really good hd800 deals go for under $1000. Normally $1000-1100 is a good deal for good to like-new condition. I wouldn't pay more then $1100.

HD600 it is. I'll try to see if I can find a pair for a good price. I do have the stock AD8610ARZ. I guess even more research time!

To my knowledge, majority of the people here dislike the new Denon line

I know... I've found a couple of Modded D2 and D5's I'd like to try... but I have an offer for a D600

I finally bought a pair of hd800s off of ebay on Friday night. I will be getting them on monday :D. My balanced cable probably won't come til wednesday, and my rug liner for the anax mod will hopefully come monday.

kimvictor old buddy!  How're you doing?   Seems like you're happy!  Been a long time since those single thread days huh?  ;)  I'm sure the community feels the same way, but thanks a bunch for contributing!

Long time no see! I'm doing great. I feel like things did get easier by starting new section for help and recommendations though. I guess it keeps everything nice and organized.
