Mmm yeah the left channel is roughly 2.9db off. Too bad I don't have any equipment to actually measure it.

Yea... I am to blame for Gunners lack of a Balanced Dt 880 [as I'm one of the very few to own one] although honestly... hearing that the HD650 had drive imbalance >.> I think I dodged a bullet there... I've yet to hear a Mid Fi Senn Hesier... and I'd hate for my first two to be composed of an imbalanced HD 650 + and HD 600 >.> then I'd have a legit reason to hate Senn hesier :D

Ehm still, glad you got to do the Comparisons Gunner

Oh crap DUDE your in Long Island? I have family up that way, there may be a DAY when I come to visit said family... and on that day... I might make a new friend <3  So there is a balanced DT 880 in the future for ur ears!

Well the pair of hd650s had a driver imbalance cause the original owner damaged it, so it wasn't sennheiser or vampire's fault. There's nothing wrong with my hd600's, they're in really good condition. Can't love them enough xD

The hd650s sounded so similiar to the hd600s to my ears. There wasnt a huge difference between them at all. Perhaps tthat could have been due to the older drivers or the imbalance on the hd650s. I still prefer my hd600s but I could definitely live with the hd650s if the hd600s didn't exist.

Now the real question is, where do I go from here? Here are my thoughts on possible "upgrades"

Anax modded HD800 - Should be similiar sounding to the hd600, but better on every level it seems. The stock hd800 might be too bright with the 10es2 but the anax mod is easy to do and should tame the highs.

LCD2 - Darker, more warmth than the hd600 based on what I've read. Only concern is comfort.

HE-500 - Hmm... Not completely sure on this. Treble might be higher than what I'd like? Though it would be the cheapest in the bunch here. Of course there's the problem of comfort as well.

I own the HE 400, and TRUST me HE 400 + J$money pads is like SUPER comfy

Still ppl say the HE 500 is the most Linear upgrade to the HD 600 sound, thick laid back and all. and DUDE only the HE 400 is gawd awfully bright, pretty sure the HE 500 lacks that bright ness [now the 5LE on the other hand may have that bright sound]

What do you guys think of the Beyers 250ohm vs 600ohm? Mainly the dt990/250 pro vs the 600 premium. I honestly think that the 600 ohms are not worth 2x+ the price at all compared to the 250pro. I have a friend who absolutely insists on buying the 600ohm over the 250, even though he has never heard the 600ohm. Oh, and he insists on buying "new" of course.

He is a moron, so kick him in the face for me

I owned the 250 and I own the 600 ohm... the only differance is "amp matching" meaning the 600 ohm cans are best suited for high powered amps, STILL the 250 ohm is really the best bang for the buck! IF you must buy new buy a new Pro 250, I paid $235 for my used and fully balanced Dt 880 600 ohm, that was the only way I would have ever got a dt 880 600 ohm is IF it was balanced and well dirt cheap

that said, get the Pro 250s. The 600 ohms are only good if your, again, using a HIGH powered amp. Such as an OTL tube or a Balanced amp

Haha I think he is a lost cause. I've already tried to convince him so many times to just go with the 250pro, but nope. He has a Aune T1, which he got for cheap. The 250ohm would suit the aune t1 more as well, since it doesn't have that much power for high impedance cans.

exactly... Oh hey I have a Dt 880 600 ohm box! I say you BUY him a NEW pair of Dt 880s and stick a 250 ohm in the 600 ohm box.

But he may b smart enough to read the side OH hey wait my Dt 880 600 ohm does not have 600 ohms on the side [I think the Pro 250 did] EITHER way TRICK HIM... seriously he needs a Pro 250 to start with, other wise he is going to hate his 600, I LOVE my 600 and the MORE power I feed into it, the better it sounds [well the more power I have on tap] my NFB 10ES2 really made it come alive! The whole bottom end just got wonderful

the 250 ohm achieved a simmilar result with much less power on tap, my point. He is going to b underamping them and ROBBING him self of the full experince

+1 for that! Did some searching for the Aune T1 few days back I remember I told myself it won't have enough power at all for 600 Ohm! Some people may prefer the 600 Ohm better than 250 Ohm but that's just because of the damping factor! This shouldn't be a problem for Aune T1.

Haha oh well, his decision. I came SO CLOSE to buying a pair of like-new HD800s w/ old SN#s for $875 through a local sale but the seller changed his mind :(. My wallet is safe for now though.

IDK if I should be sorry or not. Sorry for you, but not sorry for your wallet! I personally like HD800. I wish I could have one. But I want TH600 before that.

Feel so sorry to your ears but again, not the wallet tongue.gif they sound excellent unless you listen to female vocals a lot xD I do not find them to exhale with female vocals so yeah xD

Next time bro smily_headphones1.gif next time! Who knows! Some random guy bought the HD800 thinking that he can drive it straight out of his iPod but can't so he decided to sale it at $500 wink.gif
