Hifiman RE600 vs RE400 Tour Thread - Page 2

I just came across this thread as someone mentioned the similarities between the RE-400 and RE-600 in a PM conversation so I decided to read up on it.  I got my RE-400 a little over a week ago and have been enjoying them quite a bit so far, they really are a tremendous value and I've already recommended them to two newer user haha. I'd be willing to participate in this tour if it's still open and offer my impressions.  I've not done many formal reviews outside of impressions and a small write-up on the GR07 MKII vs GR07-BE, but I think I'd be up to another. cool.gif

Any news on the dampening trick for the re-400? Or is it a secret? smily_headphones1.gif

Yes, as a RE-400 owner I would be very interested in the damping trick. I meet all the requirements listed for the tour except number one, but i can provide excellent feedback from other audio buy and sell sights under the same username, if that would be helpful at all.

If I'm not mistaken, all the dampening trick is is a handkerchief over the nozzle of the RE-400.  Not sure what kind of handkerchief, or how much resistance it offers, or thread count (which may or may not play a roll at all), or anything of that mater though.

any info on when the re-600 will start , in Europe ?

It looks that RE-600 is becoming available in Europe now. The Hifiman distributer in Finland got them less than two weeks ago, and I immediately ordered them.  I really like the sound and the fit,  and they do not require a lot of power from the player, either. I almost never need to go above volume 50 on the AK120.

I think he meant the tour...  I could be wrong though.

I'm wondering about when the tour will come to Europe too.

Any schedule at all?

I might just buy the RE-600 if we are talking next year here.

This is a free loaner, feel free to withdraw as you please.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

If you want to blow 400$ on an IEM that is not an upgrade and that can be matched by a damper, feel free.....

Plans had to be cancelled so, it took a while to pass on to the first user who will get them shipped to tomorrow. From there on each user gets a week, then it's all math

Any non-woven fabric should do, tea bag paper should do as well, but I can't guarantee how exact the used fabric is compared to Rin's.

Thanks for your concern normal_smile%20.gif

If my math is correct it should be around 7 weeks till the first EU residence have the RE-600 in their hand.

Believe me I'm grateful for this kind of project. This is what I like by a community like this.

I might do a loaner tour of the CK100PRO, IE800 or some other in-ear to return the favour to the community some day.

Update! [all accepted users please read!]

Currently all users whose address I do not yet have, have been asked for one.

The first user should get them soon. He will PM me the day the IEM arrives to him, which I will confirm via tracking and then make a deadline accordingly [usually a 1 week span]. Please PM me if you can't ship on the deadline date in advance, it is your responsibility to meet the deadline. All users should do as the first user and PM me when the IEM arrives to you, so I can keep the cycle going.

Please be careful not to lose the cloth filters and care for James' donated IEM.

I will regularly update on the status of the IEM, so if it's in transit to the next user, I will post it here so later users are aware of it's progress.

I have a great idea of how impressions should be posted to keep things interesting and somewhat less biased, I will reveal this when I post mine. I will post my impressions by this upcoming Wednesday.
