I have a question for you audiologists

Hello, I had heard for years that cleaning your ears with q-tips was bad for them so I finally decided that I would look around and see if there was a better way to clean your ears. I used the search function for this website to see if anyone had started a thread asking about better ways to clean your ears that did not have the potential to damage your hearing and I did see quite a few threads like that. I read a bunch of suggestions from people and some of them very well may have come from audiologists but they didn't say that they were audiologists. So I wanted to ask you audiologists . . . are there any ways to clean your ears and not damage your hearing? Out of all the suggestions that head-fiers have made, putting hydrogen peroxide in your ears seems to me to be the best way to clean your ears. Any suggestions you can make will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I actually just accidentally jammed a Q-Tip really far into my ear while cleaning it, but my hearing is slowly coming back. I'd also like to know whether there is a better way to clean your ears. My hearing is bad enough from my habit of blasting music that I'm trying to break, so I'd rather not risk even more damage frown.gif.

Did you really have to make 4 threads?

What is really annoying is that there is no way you can accidentally make 4 threads. 4 posts maybe but 4 threads no way. confused.gif

Sorry guys, I swear that was unintentional. I was trying to start this thread and for some reason when I clicked 'submit' the words 'submitting content' appeared on my screen and just stayed there so I thought that my computer was being unresponsive. This prompted me to keep refreshing the page and clicking 'submit' over and over again. I know that wasn't the brightest idea.
