May not be the prettiest... but it does look decent! We should always look at the core not the outside of an object! xD

I'm just as shallow as the next guy but I actually like the looks.  Nothing really can look better than the MDR 1R though.

Don't forget about the Momentum as well!

I don't like the looks of any of those except the MDR-1R (if they didn't have the Sony logo).

The HP50 aren't quite as ugly as the PSBs but not far off, IMO.

I think the only portables I like the aesthetic design of are:

Aedle VK-1

H6 (better without logo but its small)

M100

MDR-1R (better without logo)

TMA-1 (always look good an just about anyone I see them on in public)

P5 (small enough that shape isn't too offensive, better without logo)

Focal Spirit Pro (one and classic OK)

However the reason I don't own any of them is I don't think the sound signatures and/or comfort will suit my preferences (apart from maybe M100 with XL pads or VK-1 but don't look comfy). I don't *mind* the looks of the small Beyers like my Dt1350, but nothing special.

Dislike:

Beats (obviously)

New Denons (obviously)

Bose

P7 (sorry, too chunky/rectangular and big Bowers & Wilkins logo no thanks)

Momentum & most other Senns

Most AKGs

PSB M4Us

NAD HP50s

M500 (not too bad but bit weird shape when I look at photos of them on people's heads)

UE6k / 9k (not too bad)

The list could be exponentially longer...

Yes I'm shallow but you wear these damn things on your head out in public! You will get stared at. I don't want something audacious, weird looking or with annoying big logos on them (that's just free advertising for the companies that making them). Same reason I don't wear clothing with big logos on it either. Sound is perhaps most important but aesthetics are very important to me

Its all a matter of preference, that's just me.

Looking from your list:

The Aedle is ugly...

H6 looks pretty good

M100 is good too

1r's Sony logo is what makes them so beautiful!

TheTMA 1 is not good looking

P5 is really good

Beats don't look that bad... i know any compliment about concerning Beats is taboo around here.  They just don't look bad (not saying I love them)

Denons are ugly

Bose is kind of ugly, but the pads themselves look really comfy

The P7 is beautiful

Momentum is just... stunning, other Sennheisers except for the HD598 and 558 are bad

Most AKG's are ugly, the K550 and K545 are really nice though, K167/267 aren't bad

M4U is ugly

HP50s look nice

M500 look nice on the head, OK off of it

I mainly like to wear the 1r, M500, and ATH WS99 out in public.

For those of you familiar with Tyll over at Innerfidelity, here is his opinion on them: http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/i-love-these-headphonesthe-nad-viso-hp50

On the strength of this review, i went to my local Apple Store and demo'd a pair and needless to say was blown away by them, Tyll was bang on the money. They were purchased without hesitation.

I'm trying to get a pair (at least on loan)....we'll see.

Cool. Your taste isn't that different then. However Beats are cheap shiny plastic and massive, and with that horrible big logo..

The Aedle and TMA are pretty similar in style/shape just different finishes so obviously you're not into that classic on-ear DJ-headphone shape. Similar to HD25 and Dt1350. I'm not really the biggest fan of how they look on the head, a bit like mushrooms sticking out, but having DJed a lot myself I'm used to this style as most DJs would be, and the VK1 and TMA are great pieces of design.

I just don't like the chunky rectangular look (P7, HP50 etc)

Its funny how people are saying how nice they look but no one is game enough to post a photo of them on their head in either this thread or the P7 thread. Probably because they're self conscious and they stick out a lot. Also I liken the Bowers & Wilkins text to wearing clothing with a big Hugo Boss logo (or if female branded Gucci/Chanel/Prada bag/clothing). Even a Ralph Lauren polo isn't as bad (although I wouldn't wear that either). :) Some people like to show off and like their 'prestige' / lifestyle brands I suppose.

A Sony logo isn't as prestige but its not exactly pretty, its just boring and its the thing your eye is drawn to rather than the design of the headphone IMO.

Hey, I'm 41 and really appreciate both the new Beats and M500s look. The old Beats however...ugh.

The new Studio's do look better, but I just hate glossy plastic. Wonder when the metal/matte version will come out.

I'd say the M500 looks as classy as the Momentum. Wouldn't put it in the same category, aesthetically speaking, with a Beats headphone. The M-100 is somewhere in the middle. Classy yet industrial-looking.

Have you held them or only seen them in photos? In person, the new Studios are SLICK looking headphones.
