Comparisons: 36 of the Top Closed/Portable Headphones Around

No one responded to my question so..... anyways I just bought pair of the old momentum off Amazon for $182.  I can't find the new ones in stock.  And it will cost twice as much.  These will be my first set of Sennheiser's.

Hope this is right choice, just really worried about the ear pad size and comfort.

Everyone's ears are different and one person's "neutral" is another's "bassy" and yet another's "bright."  When reading headphone reviews, I give more weight to those reviewers I know to have the same sound preferences as I do.

+1
Yes, same here...

Is the M2 2x better than the M1?  Absolutely not but I don't think that's the right question to be asking.

I think you're better off asking yourself when you get and try the M1 is whether the M1 is worth $180 to you.  If it's not, move on to something else.

Seeing that on the first post the OP gave them 4.5 value rating , probably based on the $300 price.  I would imagine it would be hard to say it wasn't worth the $180 price tag.  My only problem is I don't anything to reference sound on.  I only have listen to AE2's.  And no one seems to think they are any good even though they sound pretty good to me.  I can't image what would sound better than that.

I think you'll need to listen to some other closed headphones
so as to obtain other references than the AE2's.

If that can be done at a friend's home, let''s say,
that would be better than listening in a crowded
noisy store.  A quiet audio store IME is hard to find.

Or you can buy a very good set of closed headphones.
Keep in mind that very few closed headphones image
well.  Many retailers allow returns.

What's your (the accepted) criteria that must be met to earn the definition of portable?

These cans fold up - that alone in my book makes them portable.

They look certainly like a great headphone to try. Thanks for that...I'll check them out.

Highly recommend them, they're replacing my p7's which I was a huge fan of. Better comfort, looks and sound!

Good to hear...I was a bit worried about Denon after the D7100 debacle.

Wrt the t51i/p, bass heavy and dark are not adjectives I'd use. I've never listened to beats but compared to the Kefs they are more open and extended. Compared to the HD25, the t51i has less low end push - now that was a bass heavy set ime.
