Hmm so the T51p actually have more bass than the H6? I think I'd need a portable can by the end of the year, and while the SRH1540 really caught my eyes, its size is what makes me reconsidering them as my 'portable' can.

The problem is, I may be able to get the T51p for about $400 while the H6 would cost me $600! (NZD).

They do...quite a bit more actually. The SRH1540s are more sit-down full sized headphones IMO. Wow, those prices are highway robbery!

Just added the most excellent V-Moda XS headphones to my first post. Talk about portable. These headphones set the new standard for headphones in that regards and are the closest to IEMs in terms of portability I've come across! Plus they sound fantastic!

Another nice review, but i see the xs with a 4 in construction which i assume is build quality(i can be wrong). So why is that? I thought this was supposed to be one of its trademarks with its metal construction and military tests.

Thanks. A score of 4 is still very good...but next to the P7s, they weren't quite there IMO. But they're still very, very well built.

Nice review, MH. I always thought not including the M-80 was a major omission in your fine and extensive list (it. Being understood that you are under no personal obligation to keep purchasing more headphones so we can enjoy your eventual review, as much as i would like that for selfish reasons) so I am glad you got to try their successor the XS. I have and love the m-80 and am kind of torn as to whether to upgrade to the XS, which I have been able to demo. They are more portable and more comfortable but the sound is very similar albeit with small improvements in the treble. And $200 for what is an upgrade for me is $200 less for something completely new. Certainly if I didn't already have the M-80 I would have bought the XS by now. Plus, while the pearl white is very nice it is something I would not wear and personally I like the old M-80 black shadow aesthetically better than the new black matte XS. Notwithstanding the foregoing I may upgrade primarily because the XS seem to be much more comfortable. I have to take the M-80 off my ears for at least a few minutes after about 45 minutes or one disc's worth of music due to the clamping pressure on my ears. I think this would be much less of an issue with the XS.

Ah Head-Fi. Just a few minutes ago I hadn't even heard of the name NAD and now I'm purchasing the NAD Viso HP50... I don't even know why. My experience with closed headphones has been really poor... I hope these are nothing like the ATH-M50.

Why not sell your M80 for $100 and pay and an extra $100 for XS xD

It's Head-Fi after all

Well, I like the look of the M-80 better. So I need to decide if it is worth net -- let's say $100 -- more to have the more comfortable, better-sounding but, to me, slightly less cool looking XS over the M-80 I already own. I act at a glacial pace so I should probably be able to make that decision in the next 6 months are so while my M-80s continue to depreciate in value.

Loved the HP50, but it really isn't portable in the sense that I use portable, riding the bus to and from work. They just are too hot in the summer and a little odd looking. Great sound, but more in my mind for a headphone that stays put. Now if your definition is portable in terms of taking it from location to location and not necessarily wearing it during the trip, then yes, the HP50 is portable. I eventually sold mine (not to mention the stupidly short cord) and I will be replacing with the Vmoda XS I think as I love my M80s.
