Audio Technica WS70 vs Sony MDR XB500/700

Hello all I'm new to Head-Fi and am not an audiophile but was looking for some good headphones. I mostly listen to electronic music although occasionally other genres (rock, classical) and am in need of new headphones that would give a good amount of bass without distortion or ruining the clarity of the mids and highs. I've been reading reviews and have heard great things about the Sony XB series and the Audio Technica Ath-m50, however decided that the WS70 might be a better fit as I've heard that it gives close to the clarity that the m50s offer but with richer bass. The WS70s sound like they have great sound, however the XB500s and 700s are apparently very comfortable (especially the 500s) and have lots of booming bass, and in the 700's case, lots of deep bass. I need your guys' opinions on which would be a better deal, or if you think that another set of headphones would fit my needs better.
 
PS- I don't have an amp but most reviews I've read say that neither of the headphones that I've been looking into require them. I suppose I would consider looking into an amp, preferably portable.
