V-Moda Crossfade M-100 & iPod Classic Combo

I currently am listening to my 80GB iPod Classic through Bose on-ear 1st generation headphones and will soon be purchasing a pair of V-Moda Crossfade M-100 headphones. I am wondering if any of you are already using this combination un-amped and would like to know what you think.

Would you recommend I also get a portable headphone amplifier as well in order to get the most out of the M-100s. I am already considering a FiiO E11 portable amp.

Hi,

I say unseen, but e11+M-100 maybe will be too dark. The M-100 is designed for portable use, so it should not be bad with an ipod. First listen it unamped, and just after the think about an amp.

The M100 is 32ohms so an amp isn't necessary. But it will surely benefit from amping, the E11 is an excellent option if you want the bass to rattle your head!

Great advice, thanks.

So will amping my iPod Classic with the FiiO E11 also improve sound quality overall? Aside from increasing the intensity of the base. Now, I know an amplifier increases amplitude, but, in your opinion, is music amped and sourced from a DAP like an iPod classic more enjoyable?

Hello there. Did you eventually get the vmoda m100? If yes, whats your setup? Playing only with your ipod or you using an extra amp, amp/dac with it?

Hellz yeah I did. I've got them sitting pretty with me right now. At the moment I am just playing them straight from my ipod, which just feels like the quality limiting factor, but I just ordered the Fiio e12 mont blanc yesterday. It should get to me by next tuesday. I'll let you know if there are any improvements in sound quality, as that is what I am looking for mostly.
