I got a sound blaster z around december of last year and recently since the start of this year it's been having some strange problems. It'll be fine one day and the next day I'll have tons of trouble trying to get it to work. It wont detect any slots so my headphones and microphones wont appear on the list at all. i've tried to restart many times and even reinstalling the sound blaster studio control panel and it doesn't do any good. could the card be a dud already?

and for some reason if i reset the bios it will work again.

Did you try uninstalling ALL Creative stuff with their uninstallers, then cleansed with drivercleaner and continued manually deleting creative files under system32 syswow64?

Afterwards a fresh new install?

Try it out in another computer and see if it does same sort of things. Also try it in another socket, if one is available on your machine, and see what happens.
