Wow, do you buy all FOTM phones, you are like in every thread?
I found the midrange warmer than the K550 so hopefully this area changes for you. I noticed a pretty significan change after the first 24 hours or so of use. After that I have noticed these sounding more open as time has gone on, I am not sure if this my brain getting used to the sound or a gradual change to the headphone.
I for one am glad to have another voice in this thread . I see you also got the NAD headphone as well. I hope you can give some comparisons after having both for a while as I don't want to buy them just to do a comparison. Not to say I won't at some point but not for now .
I am running some LF test tones on repeat through the K545......to flex the drivers a bit. I'll give them 25 hours and check back.
The NAD has a smoother, very slightly laid-back-in-the-upper-mid, big-loudspeaker-in-a-room sound. You will hear no harshness, brightness, boom or tizz. I think it is more yin to the K545's yang. Different sound...not really applicable to compare the two. However, initially I do hear a lot of potential in the K545.
sounds interesting, if they are the yin to the K545 I might like them as an alternative to the K545 sound or I might just wish I had my K545 on instead since I enjoy the K545 so much :). I will wait and see if I can demo them somewhere locally if possible. I look forward to your impressions after your 25 hour burn in.
Upon further use, I am finding these to have the same fit problem as the K550...not quite as severe but still a problem. The clamping force is just not strong enough because the metal headband is too thin and flexible. You move your head or your jaw just the slightest and you lose the seal. Either a stiffer headband or softer pads needed.
How are they sounding today?
