Hey everybody...

So I've read through quite a bit of this thread, though not all of it.  So sorry if I missed this being addressed somewhere.

I've been interested in the K545 and the K551 for a while now.  Since I live up in Canada, I can't find either of them to try them out.  However, I walked in to London Drugs of all places and noticed the K550's hanging on the wall.  So I put them on, and holy are they huge!  I had them at the smallest setting and the cups rode so low on my ears that the top of the pad was half way down my ear nearly.  Just gigantic!  So needless to say, I did not get to hear what these would sound like with a proper (or any) seal.

So I'm wondering about the sizes.  I'm assuming the 551's are the same?  I also read somewhere on here that the frame is the same size on the 545's.  Is that true? I do have a smaller than average head for a female, but not dramatically so.  I mean, nobody points and laughs at me.  Though perhaps I can't see with my pea sized head. haha.

Anyway, I'd love to check them out and see how they sound for myself, but if size is an issue, then I'll just stop thinking about it and move on.

A side note… nobody is interested in the white ones?  I think they look awesome, but would like to see a less enhanced picture of them as compared to the one on their site.  I think the white pads might eventually look pretty gross though. I wonder how they'd look with black or grey pads, assuming I could find grey to fit that worked with the sound.

Thanks for all the posts on these, guys!

The K551 is same as the K550 for size. The K545 has a smaller cup but does use the same headband so likely will have a similar fit issue but not necessarily. But I am not sure you should risk buying a pair just to see.

Which part of Canada are you located at? I am in Calgary so if there we could potentially meet at a coffee shop so you could try out the K545. If your in Toronto I am just getting ready to ship my K545 to Macedonianhero to review so I might be able to see if he could meet with you to give them a listen to. If your in Vancouver you should call the Headphone Bar as they may have the K545 in stock.

Otherwise you might want to look at a smaller headphone.

I was afraid you'd say that regarding the size. :(  They sound like they are just what I'm looking for.  It's interesting, I've never had any issue of getting headphones to fit me in the past.

I'm in North Vancouver.  I don't venture downtown too much, so I guess that's why I've never heard of this place.  But maybe I'll just go down and see if they have it.  That way if not, I can check out some others.  Thanks so much for the tip!

Headphone Bar (http://www.headphonebar.com) in Vancouver may have it.

edit: oh, dweaver already mentioned it :)

@waynes world, I think I read somewhere you asking has anyone compared the K612 to the K545. Well, I currently own the K612... and just ordered the K545, yesterday! smily_headphones1.gif

Awesome! Looking forward to how they compare with one another :)

WOW They seem SOOOOOO comfortable and light weight compared to my Old LP. Does anyone tried or know if this would work w/ the AKG545?

I have a tiny head as well, and I've owned the AKG K550 and comapred the AKG K550 with the AKG K545 at best buy.

The AKG K550 is definitely too big for me at the smallest setting and I cannot get the proper seal. Ended up returning them, even though I loved the sound.

However, the AKG K545 does actually have a tighter, smaller fit! When I tried them on, I was able to wear them comfortably at the lowest setting with a great seal. Fit is a very individual thing, so you def need to try it out yourself. However, the AKG K545 can definitely fit tiny heads better than the K550. If I end up getting a portable, closed pair of headphones I think the AKG K545 at $200 or less is a steal and that's what I would go for.

You will not hear any surround sound with the I.E.M.s

In my experience some IEM's can replicate the feeling of 3D, being able to pull off the 3D barber for example. But none do it as well as good open sounding headphone.

Doesn't seem like the AKG NA website sells replacement cable like V-Moda, Does Anyone know where I can get some if I happen to break them?

The K323 does not do the 3D Barber very well LOL. So I do think most IEM's will not do well for this, but some IEM's do have the ability. Before you ask which ones, I suggest taking the question to the portables forum versus here.
