What is good wire to use for DIY braided headphone cables? (Re-named thread)

I've ordered a heap of wiring from "Navships" but I'm in Australia, and it's taking a very, very long time to get to me. Unfortunately, the wait is a little too much to quench my DIY thirst.

What are some good alternatives?

I'm looking mostly to make my own DIY braided headphone cables. So far I've been using very thin insulated speaker wire from Jaycar:

But obviously this isn't ideal, and I'd love to get some better materials.

Does anyone know anywhere in Australia/china where I could get something (anything) nicer than this plastic-style insulated copper wire?

Teflon/cotton would be nice, maybe silver instead of copper.
