Great headphone Amp, Fiio e11 with ath m50?

Hey guys, I'm just looking for a new headphone (ath m50 black to replace my dirty white ones) with a good e11 amp. I listen to Silva Hound dubstep, Assertive Fluttershy Dubstep, and thelivingtombstone. So mostly electronic. (All make Brony dubstep and house music) are there any other good headphones with an amp that are better than the m50 for under 300? Or are the M50 with the E11 the better deal. Thanks!

The Fiio E11 ($60) has more then enough power to drive the 50-Ohm ATH-M50 headphones.

Otherwise it might make more sense to buy headphones that are better then the ATH-M50s.

Like the Audio Technica ATH-A900X headphones.

Digbuy is selling the ATH-A900X for $179.99, plus tax (free shipping).

Rakuten is charging $154.99 (new), $129.99 (refurb), plus tax and shipping.

Thanks. Does the M50 with the fiio sound far better than the 900 itself? Or does the 900 sound better than the M50 with the amp.

The ATH-M50 could never really beat the ATH-A900X, in my opinion.

Well, I scratched the m50 and now looking more towards ath 900x or the SennHeiser 598, or 555. My sound source is HTC One S.

Does it mater if the headphones are open or closed?

Not at all really. I just want the best sound.

I that case, as long as you don't need them for portable use (open headphones are not a good choice for that), I'd suggest looking into the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250 ohms. On sale at Amazon and B&H Photo for under $170 (MSRP $299). The will have very good bass for EDM, and a much bigger, immersive soundstage than the M50s you have.

I've only heard the DT880 and DT770, and I own the DT1350. PurpleAngel will be be able to tell you more about the DT990 since he has all three.

I do have the A900X. Quite different from the Beyer sound. Very good headphones, too. The DT990s are supposed to have a little more bass than the DT880s, which I thought had a little better sub bass extension than the A900X. For EDM, I think that could be a good thing smily_headphones1.gif

Chances are the ATH-A900X will work plugged straight into the HTC.

The DT990 will not.
