I’m very confused and don’t know which is the best MP3 player for my needs. Need Some audiophiles...

Last year I have bought a Cowon C2 & Shure 215 and last week, the touchscreen stopped working (I tried to fix it but I failed).  After the Cowon died I returned to listen music from my smartphone, which sucks compared to the Cowon. It seems that I became an addicted audiophile who can't live without his head gear. Now I'm on a budget maximum $100.

I want some help buying an MP3 player that have similar SQ of my former Cowon but cheap. I want a basic MP3 player without the fancy feature (videos; apps touchscreen etc.). I just want a good SQ MP3 player. I usually use my player for just about anything, sports, car or just laying down on the bed. I listen to electronic music (house, electro, trance etc.), so bass is very important, but from time to time I listen to rock, metal.

**Is buying an additional headphone amp will enhance the SQ on the Shure SE 215?

I’m very confused and don’t know which is the best MP3 player for my needs. Need Some audiophiles help

Thanks you

There's a player for $100 called Colorfly C3 which is stripped down for just music with very good audiophile grade sound quality, I suggest you start there.

Thank you for your answer

Well the C3 was one of my options but there is a problem with the logistics of buying it. I'm trying to buy something from amazon.

So what do you think of the Sansa & good headphone amp that goes my shure 215

Sounds like are a good candidate for a Sansa Clip+. And I'd wait on a headphone amp. You might find that the Clip+ will have plenty of power to drive your IEMs. If so, a headphone amp isn't going to add anything. I have several headphone amps and don't bother to use them with my Clip+.

I really like my Sansa Clip+ but I am waiting for the headphone jack to come loose like a lot of the people have been having this issue.  Otherwise, it's great and cheap.

Another vote for the Sansa Clip+, rockbox it if you get it.

Sansa Clip+ or Clip Zip. (I own the Clip Zip).

Best value is to buy the 4GB version(s) and buy add-on SDHC memory cards.

I had to switch from the Clip Zip to the Sony E465 because my 48 year old eyes need a bigger screen.

But I was happy with the sound quality of my Clip Zip.

Just about any portable audio player should easily be able to drive your 20-Ohm Shure 215s

Check out Rockbox, it's a third party firmware that adds features to portable audio players

Ok, so sansa clip it is. I only have one other thing and its the volume. Does the sansa clip deliver the high SQ of cowon on high volumes.

I've owned C2. so I know exactly what you'll be hearing going from C2 > Clip+. If you want to downgrade in sound quality to what you already had, go for the Sansa Clip+

I think one can say the Sansa Clip is the best in it's price range, but I would guess the Cowon is a little better sound quality.

Ask about the Clip/Cowon question at the website anythingbutipod

Get the 4GB Sansa Clip Zip and Rockbox it. The only downside to it is only around 14 hours of battery life.
