noob seeking help with external DAC

Thread Starter

I have a new equipment design that is causing problems greater than my computer knowledge and would appreciate if somebody could help. I repurposed an old laptop to be my music streamer. It consists of:

Toshiba Satellite Laptop

Windows XP Professional

Western Digital 500 GB external hard drive

HRT Music STreamer II asynchronis external DAC

Foobar

FIrefox

Sansui G5500 receiver

My music is FLAC format files located on the external HD. Using Foobar, the sound is very good. I am extremely pleased with the audio quality.

The problem I have is when I tried to use Songza internet radio on Firefox. It appears that the music is playing on the web browser but I have zero audio coming out of the computer. The external DAC automatically installed itself as the default audio device and works normally using Foobar, but I get nothing when I try to access internet radio.

Any ideas?

You have to select the DAC in your audio devices.
