Thanks for the heads up. I should probably consider just waiting for the vsd5, however long that might be.

Have you considered Vivo XE800 (GR07 driver in different shell)? I've seen good impressions of them so far - sort of like GR07 / GR07BE hybrid. Going for ~$50.

I'll certainly consider it. I tend to be a full size listener, but have been impressed by the vsd3 enough, basically reminded me of a mini hd700, and haven't had near the comfort issues I typically have with IEMs. I know I should most likely be happy with it and continue my debate on the ZMF Vibro, but I really like my first Vsonic.

If you're content with what you have now it might be worthwhile to wait. I'm very happy with what I have right now, but at $45, the VSD3S was just too tempting of an offer to pass up. Btw, I wouldn't bother with getting it off eBay. Penon is selling it cheaper off their official site than their eBay store (it's called bigbargainonline or something). Also interesting to me is that from what I've seen, in addition to others claiming there to be more stock of the VSD3S, the VSD3 costs a little more than the VSD3S as well. I would think that the 3S would cost more than the 3, but apparently not. Anyone had a chance to compare the two of them to find out what the differences are?

The only reason the VSD3 costs more than the S is the limited availability. It's supply and demand like with the vsd1 limted edition, which was being sold for north of 55 bucks and often around 70 even though the MSRP was half of that. Lendmeurears sold the VSD3 for $45 and as soon as they get a new batch they'll sell it at that price. Penonaudio (bigbargainonline) is just taking advantage of the current situation just like up until few days ago was selling the S version also for 60 bucks.

Hi, Are the VSD3S prone to sibilance?

Edit: Searched the thread.... thanks.

I'd agree, honestly, as it doesn't sound like it's that big of a difference. It's noticeable, but not big enough to need both. The XE800 is a GR07 retuned and rehoused which you can get for the price of a VSD3. You have to go through an agent and it may not have a warranty since it was bundled with a phone, but it's a very tempting option.

@ZapX629: Thanks for directing to that page. I figured someone would have compared, but just didn't have the time to comb through all the pages

@kova4a: Yeah, the supply and demand theory makes sense. I guess there isn't really any reason for them to be different prices otherwise.

At this point in time it doesn't make much sense buying the VSD3 or waiting for the VSD5. Lendmeurears has a discount, which means you can get the GR07 classic for peanuts and the XE800 is even cheaper. The VSD5 might prove to be a very good iem, but we won't really know till it's out. The GR07 series on the other hand is a tried and true solution. For those that never bought one, it's a safe choice, especially at those prices. As for the XE800, it reportedly has a smoother treble which is a big improvement over the GR07. I will know for sure when mine reaches me ;).

But considering the general agreement about the vsd3s sounds preety close to westone w4r, I'll definally wanna try something (vsd5) that sound like Sony EX1000.

You mean a "general hype" by VSonic CEO :p  I have VSD3S and W40, and there are plenty of differences in lows, mids, treble, and everything in between.  W4x is very smooth, laid back, warm, yet detailed and clear.  VSD3S in comparison has more aggressive higher quantity sub-bass, not as good separation, and thinner less natural mids with peaky upper mids/treble.  Don't get me wrong, for the price of $50 for VSD3S vs $500 for W40 - VSD3S is awesome, but you will be kidding yourself thinking you are getting performance of W4x when purchasing VSD3S.  At the same time, I can tell you with certainty, W40 is NOT 10x better than VSD3S ;)

All I was hoping would be something with a sound Sig similar to the w4r, much like the Ety HF5 can be considered similar to the ER4. I in no way expected the quality, and I'm remarkably happy with the VSD3 so far. I'm a little sad I'm not really wanting to listen to my Dunu DN-K, for now at least. It also made me purchasing a monster turbine gold pro the same day a little sad, it's being neglected as well. At least I got what I believe to be a great price for it. Great sound for bassy music though.

As the owner of both the w4r and the vsd3s I can say they don't sound alike, The frequency response might sound somewhat similar but unfortunately they're far from been close. Having a hard time finding a correct analogy to explain myself better.
