Haven't had one for a long time but that's not really a change of topic - it's the same thing - talking about several years old iems.

actually i had given my m3 to my brother when i got gr07 but to my utter dismay he prefers ex083 that i got with sony walkman over them.

so i am kinda recalling those from him.

from what i remember,,,m3 had a small soundstage but very very good mids and liquid smooth treble.

bass was too less i think.

and now my brother has ordered vsd1s

Well, it's good you can recall them. Don't get me started on my brother and how he destroys everything I give to him. Just a couple of weeks ago he told me that the meelec a161p I gave him  the last time doesn't work. And he treats everything I give him as a $5 iem.

But anyway, yeah the m3 was kinda warmish and smooth with laid back and kinda lackluster treble. The vsd1s will definitely be an upgrade for your brother.

Well, last year when I spoke with Mike from meelec he mentioned that they'll be discontinuing the a161p this year but he said that they won't be turning their attention completely to the consumer oriented bassy stuff. He didn't want to tell me but he kinda implied that they'll probably have a replacement in the works.

Because the cable is a piece of schiit. Seriously, the cable on them is cheaper than a $5 iem.

Yeah, but in the iem world things are a bit different and there's been quite the progress, especially in the price to performance ration for the past couple of years, IMO only the etymotics really survived the test of time with the 20 years old er4 still being among the best and with a cult following.

they should have gone with the same braided cable as on a151,,,it was pretty decent

The cable was awesome on the 151, but sq was not very good IMHO. It was just the opposite with the 161,great sq but poor build quality.

i think for 40-45$ the sound was very good in a151.

i am also a bit biased as they were my first hifi iem's................but there was no bass at all in them, lol

It wasn't such a bad cable durability-wise - I had mine for quite a long time and had no issues but it was kinda underwhelming after most other meelecs, especially the a151. My main gripe with it was that it was picking a lot of microphonics while rubbing on my beard and that's the only iem that I've had such issues with lol

And yeah, for the start I suspected that this chat won't get the thread back on topic any time soon.

actually there was no seperate model without the mic and i fu ck ing hate mic on an iem.

that was the one reason i did not get it when it was going for just 60-65$

There's a comparison of the VSD3S and HaviB3 if you go to the first page of this thread
