Speakers vs High end headphones- the Age old debate - Page 2

You have a lot to think about.. I suggest getting a CD or download files with pink noise to test the frequency response of your room before you hang any treatments. Play around with speaker placement, listening position, and toe-in. These are the main factors that influence sound quality and are probably more important than room treatment. Use a combination of stereo *and* mono recordings for fine-tuning. Then start to treat the room deficiencies you uncover after you've optimized those main factors. Also consider that your bed will be absorptive while your desk will be reflective.

yeah definitely. I've considered that the desk is reflective, but seeing as i'll have books and other effects on it i don't think it would be a massive problem. I think the surface facing the speakers would be a problem though, so i'l just stick an acoustic panel or 2 on that particular surface.

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the LCD2 setup immensely- this may be just a 'the grass is greener on the other side' kind of thing

I prefer headphones because I know no one else in the house wants to listen to my music. It is just a more personal way to enjoy the music without having to be hassled. I also like the fact that the neighbors can't do a whole lot of complaining that way.
