UELover,

may I ask you a question?

I see you have the ESW11, could you tell me  how the Alu compares? Particularly Detail and Soundstage.

Had the Amperior and can imagine where the sound goes.

I wish that I could answer you on this but it has been really quite a while since I have last heard the ESW11 to give any meaningful comparison.

Aww thats unfortunate. But do you think they have more detail than the Amperior? Or is it just a change of sound signature and same technical performance?

I find the level of details on HD25-ALU to be slightly better than the Amperior. The HD25-ALU has a slightly warmer and fuller sound. Just a small deviation from the Amperior.

@jason: have you done any mod to the Alu edition or variant of the uber mod for the normal hd25-1 II or have you just not felt the need to? (Aside from the SPC cable)
Slightly OT: do the aluminum parts impede you for customization jobs ?

I just listened to the HD25, as I couldnt find the HD25 in any stores here.

Oh boy, the detail/resolution is worlds behind my esw11(entirele different price league though). But I really like the soundsignature.

Hoping the HD25ALU is really that much of an improvment.

Just pulled the trigger. Kinda excited.

FWIW,

I see that these haven't replaced the Amperiors

on Tyll's Wall of Fame at Inner Fidelity.

I suppose they soon will, though, as he doesn't

keep discontinued models up there very long.

What was different betwen the regular hd25 and the amperior?

Detail and more treble emphasis, soundstage. Hd25 has none, amp has a minimini.
And the amp was, for an on ear, pretty comfortable.

Wich has a fuller bass and a fuller sound? But is the difference in confort very big. I have the original hd25 and i admit that although i love the sound signature, they hurt and they feel too confined.....

I could easily sell thehd25 and buy an amperior bur i am afraid of that thin cable and that thre cups scratch easily (i love the black look on the hd25 anf the fact that they can be tossed around without showing any signs of wear and also that it is much easier to replace everything much easier on the hd25 and that this will contribute for a longer life....)
More treble emphasys? Wasnt the amperior supposed to have better controled treble (no sibilance) and to sound overall smoother?

Like you i already read many peolpe sayind that the amperior is a more agressive headphone than the hd25....

By the way guys wich one would scratch more easily? The blue or the silver amperior? At first i wantred the silver one but the blue starts to look very good as well.... Its a pretty slick blue....
