Looking for first pair of high-end headphones, input appreciated.

Hello. I've been reading but I'm still a little overwhelmed by descriptions. I plan to use the headphones to plug into my macbook pro and my iPod without an amp.

I have $250 to spend on closed, over the ear headphones. I listen to a lot of asmr, stuff like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnVDUK2R-LA, ambient, and pop/rock. I dislike the super bassy sound of Beats and stuff like aiaiai tma-1 headphones over my Sennheiser HD 201. (Sorry I don't have a lot to compare to).

So far I've been looking at the DT 770 Pro, 32 ohms, the Audio Technica MTH 50's. I like the way both look: minimal and black, and they both seem to have been reviewed well.

If anyone has advice, I would really appreciate it.

Bette run away screaming while you can, and never look back. I am 17, became aware of this hobby in October. I have spent 3k as of now...

The dt770 would probs be a good choice.

$250 eh? since your looking for your first high end, check out the Sony MDR-1R, The Philips Fidelio M1. If your willing to increase your budget, you'll get more hi-end headphone choices such as the Senheisser momentum, etc.. Still, with $250, you'll get your money's worth on decent Mid-Level headphones.

Wow, yeah I'm pretty sure I am less of a hobbyist and more of a broke college student looking for an alternative to bass heavy headphones from the mall. I definitely don't have that kind of money to spend. I feel like I'm splurging right now.
