Ps4 -> sound card -> headphone

I was thinking the same thing.

This is the setup that I plan on investing in, which is identical to what you had, but they are just different brands that I like.

But just like you, I'm wondering if just a pure soundcard would work like this....

Would it, would it not? There has to be somebody on this forum who has done something like this before.

  1. Take the optical cord, connect it to the PS4
  2. Take the other end of the optical cord and plug it into the soundcard "OPTIC IN"
  3. Take a 2nd  optical cord and insert it into the sound card "OPTIC OUT"
  4. Insert opposite end of 2nd optical cable into  a USB DSS2 Dolby Surround Sound Processor
  5. Register "Modified" DSS2 Dolby Surround Sound Processor to PS4
  6. Plug in Sennheiser 363 Surround Sound headset
  7. Play BF4

Would the PS4 and sound processor be able to utilize the sound card, so that I would be able to actually USE it????

Can't see why you would want to use the sound card and the DDS2 in the same audio chain, they both do the same job.

Best to use one or the other.

Does the sound card support DDL (Dolby Digital live) or DTS-Connect with it's optical input.

Other wise I'm guessing the sound card's optical input (if it has one) only support 2-channel (stereo) input.

I'll buy both of them, try both of them out, and give you guys an update on what ever might happen.

But it'll take a while, since I'll be working at mcdonald's. This thread will be into hibernation, until late July or early August.
