Balanced Cables

Thread Starter

Do you guys usually buy your balanced interconnect cables or make them yourself? If you buy them, where is a good place. I looked on Amazon and they had a VERY limited selection and they (it seemed to me) were very expensive, but maybe they just ARE, really expensive no matter what. Obviously that XLR connector is going to cost a lot more than an RCA connector.

Three good vendors/suppliers in the  US are:

BlueJeans

Markertek

Redco

Excellent  Gold plated XLR connectors from Neutrik cost less than ordinary every day RCA connectors.

Make them myself.  Allows for more customization of looks, ergonomics, materials, etc. for equal or less money.  They aren't hard to make (easier than RCA or other interconnects).

If you aren't DIY handy, then the sources already listed are good, and ebay can be a great place to snag a good deal.  I saw a Wireworld 1M XLR set going for only $35.  Pretty darn good deal.
