Review: ZMF Modified Fostex T50RP. Superb! - Page 40

Guys, if there's anybody around the Nashville area, just a heads-up: Zach has very graciously agreed to send a few demos to the upcoming Music City Meet on May 10th!! He's going to try to make it in person too, but that's not confirmed yet.

I personally haven't heard any of the ZMFs yet, and I'm really looking forward to giving them a shot at the meet!! And if he sends some of those Turbulent models... *Barry White music playing in the background...*

I think you guys will be delighted.

I'm guessing you're right, ULUL, and I can't wait to actually get a chance to listen to these... Sounds like these actually isolate somewhat, and top-notch headphones with any appreciable isolation are far too rare IMO. (I say this while listening the the HE-6, which I absolutely love, but which provides precisely zero isolation).

Isolation is at least 80% on the standard ZMF. It isolates more, but I'm estimating very conservatively.

Awesome. There really aren't enough top-flight closed/isolating headphones, and I'm willing to try anything that might meet those criteria. I've got high hopes for these since following this thread... I'd really like to compare them to the Alpha Dogs and the Paradox, but I'm not sure if either will be at the meet. (The fella with the AD sold his, so I'm hoping someone else shows up with a set).

That Turbulent ZMF looks pretty darn sharp too... Hoping those make the trip wink.gif. Just out of curiosity, any of you guys planning on making it down for the meet?

This thread is great and I didnt want to start a new thread because I thought this one was bad, however because I wanted to review the ZPEX v.2 and offer a pair up for tour since I have two then I figured to kill two birds with one stone and the tour would probably be overlooked by another page added

Nice review!

Zach just gave me an offer hard to resist, but is it worth to change from Q701 + magni to ZMF + magni? I saw some post saying ZMF sounds thin with magni. verification please? my DAC is dacport lx if that matters

Alpha Dog

Turbulent ZMF

They beg to be compared.

even if zmf sounds thinner on a magni than other amps it's still going to sound way different than a q701, so if you like the general sound of t50rp you should definitely get a zmf

never even heard the original, that's the problem

If you listen to music with a lot of strings (acoustic, electric, viola da gamba--doesn't matter which) and vocals, ZMF is without doubt the better choice. It's probably hard for me to say otherwise.

It also depends how much you enjoy Q701. I have K702 and have tried the variants, and have never cottoned to them.

Has anyone tried these for gaming with CMSS-3D or Dolby Headphone, or SBX Surround?

How good do they perform against open headphones?

In terms of soundstage, positional accuracy, realistic sound, immersion, etc.
