I would highly prefer Class A in terms of distortion and naturalness, but let's wait for an official statement. And to hear how it sounds.

It would be great if it could operate in Class A for headphone amplification, and class AB or else for speaker amplification, according to the absorbed power.

Mjolnir was heavily biased into Class A. I'd say Rag will be the same. It's still a circlotron circuit.

The term "pure" Class A is pretty nebulous anyway and is usually based on stretched truth or lies of omission.

It's a pretty safe bet the new amp will be operating in Class A 99.9% of the time for typical usage scenarios.  Unless of course you are into some serious headbanging level volumes.

Aha, it won't be my case, as I don't tend to listen to music at insane volume levels :).

With the Ragnarok being a universal amp, I'd really like to see a phono input. I'd also settle for a small phono preamp, built in the Magi, Modi, Vali chassis. wink.gif

Well, the Ragnorok has my interest (what with the new set of HE-6 incoming). Hopefully Addicted to Audio in Melbourne will have one available to audition when I head there in February with my HE-6 in tow. Hopefully by then I'll have lots of impressions from fellow users here too.

I think i will go for these ones when they are released. even dough it will cost me almost twice the US price because of Norwegian tax and shipping.

But i'll have to wait for some impressions to see if they are worth it ;P

Will these beat the cr*p out of the super-prestigious Naim SuperNait 2? Or Musical Fidelity M6i?

My comment is a common fact of audio circuit design.  It has nothing to do with listening impressions.

Have they set a price ?

For what ?  The Ragnarok is $1,500.  The Yggdrasil will probably be around $1,900.

1900...

I mean, it might be very good bang for buck, but its madness already.

I think im gonna stick with the entry level of their equipment :D.

Well, if it is going to be sold for 1900 $ while outperforming DAC costing 2500+ $ in terms of audio quality, then the price would be right! :)

Stuff that.  If they are selling at $1,900, and they ARE a great value company - no one could dispute this - I would expect them to be competing with (and beating some) DAC's which cost $4,000 ... I'm sure this will be their aim - whether they meet it or not, only time will tell ...
