New Schiit! Ragnarok and Yggdrasil - Page 30

Again-it's a Statement product-go all out. I mean it's already triple the cost of their mid-tier end game Mojo/Gung so it's not like the usual Schiit applies to the same degree (ie extreme bang for the buck). I'm sure it will be considered a good value-but definitely won't be considered the 'sweet spot' of their lineup imo...

At the LA meet, I suggested to Jason that Schiit establish a Custom Shop (like Colt or S&W) where customers could get different finishes or features (like a balance control,) at a price premium. He didn't dismiss the idea; but I got the feeling it's waaay down on a very long list - especially if half the products he hinted at actually make it to serious prototyping/production status.

But if lots of Head-fiers started clamoring for a custom shop....

I'm sure a custom shop is way beyond their current plans-but having the most basic audio color scheme-even as a 'premium' option, more than a few would be happy to pay. Heck I paid $200 extra for my blacktop ZDSE-something I would only do for an 'end game', totl component if you will.

I'd like to see a wood/leather casing redface.gif Some type of improved cooling system might be required however.

I'd love to see something like this done to a statement amp /drool

If you want it black source the powder coating yourself. And while you're at it, get someone to machine the aluminum and truly set your gear apart.

I don't know if painting it is a good idea as the aluminum body is the actual heat sink for the amp.

Nope. Per Jason: Powdercoating with, say, a textured black powder should be similar in heat dissipation to the aluminum anodizing process. I'd just make sure they don't powder coat inside, and I'd check the MOSFETs carefully for shorts to the chassis before powering it up.

But yea, it voids your warranty.

I stand corrected. I like the brushed aluminum look anyway.

Harmon Kardon Citation II brown for the TOTL Schiit duo would make a Statement.

Put the innards of these two new products into a gunmetal chassis and we could all say Schiit has gone against the grain in the form factor department. It would probably look rather neat now that I think about it.
