No.

Everybody knows you travel trough time by flying into a blackhole. Then you end up behind a bunch of bookshelves talking to a computer and encoding some hugely complex equations into a watch and then you save the human race.

Stellar response!!

And are we ever off topic...I wonder if the Ragnarok will drive a pair of Martin Logan Script loudspeakers? Anyone?

Not sure about those and how power hungry they are. I have a pair of B&W N803's and the Rag had trouble driving them, of course I have a Threshold 400A that's been rebuilt and modded so I really haven't any need to try to use It in that regard.

I thought electrostats needed a special amp, since they operate on voltage, not current.

Interesting -- in what way did the Rag struggle? Haven't heard a lot of reports of difficulties in that department so curious what's been happening as people start exploring more challenging/different loads. Looks like the 803s dip to ~3 ohms and are sitting at around 90dB sensitivity? Looks like manufacturer recommends 50-250W (presumably into 8 ohms?). Hmm.

How big is your room and how loud do you want to go? With my 90db efficient speakers playing Beethoven's 9th, I had the volume at about 2 o'clock, which suggests there ain't a lot of headroom. But 60 watts is 60 watts.

Yeah, i have 803's at my job and they are difficult to drive. I mean, yes its 90 db, but i've found that you need high power amp to really have control over the speaker. It will probably drive well 804's and 805's.

Electrostatic speakers don’t need a special amp like the electrostatic headphones do.

electrostatic speakers have large step up transformers (quad56,quad63,klh9...)

or dedicated high voltage amps (acoustat,beveridge...)

I do apologise, that was careless. I am a bit of a newbie still. Please can someone point me in the direction of the 'relativistic audio tweaks' thread? I am not interested in 'quantum effects' because I decided a long time ago 'that way madness lies'.

You mean the old lost information at the event horizon vs. finite probability tunneling Jedi mind trick?

Hello, like another person stated. The amp simply doesn't have enough headroom to push them too much. They obviously can drive them at lower levels but the amp starts to clip when you "crank it up". In other words it's not allowing the 803's to reach their full potential.

Sensitivity is 88 dB, impedance is 6 Ohm's but drops to 3 Ohm's at 20 kHz.

Right now I'm driving them with a plain old Bryston 2B-LP power amp.
A good solid amp, it will drive just about any loudspeaker.

The room is 20' X 14', but I actually want to use the Rag to drive the Scripts which are used as the rear channels in a 5.1 system and (obviously) drive headphones too.

Welp...got my HD 800's today and am using it in a balanced configuration with the Ragnarok. It is really outstanding...I have a pair of LCD x's, 700's and 650's....really digging the 800's with the Ragnarok....

I'll be there next week...see how it differs from the LCD-X.
