^ Have you seen the much more focused Ragnarok impressions thread? Not saying there's much more, but there's been a good Rag vs GSX mk2 comparison in the last 24 hours.

Yes a good review comparing the Ragnarok and the GSX mk2. One of the best, honest review/ comparisons I have read. If I was good at computers I would link it.

No I haven't! I will read it straight after work. Yeah I follow purrins work closely but like to have a few opinions from different wave lengths :D

Thanks for pointing me to that review!

Did anyone get word on when, the yggdrasil is dropping?

A careful analysis of the Oracle Bones indicates Q1 2015 as a tentative date. The Oracle Bones being official posts here on Head-fi. There is no official date, other than  "It'll be ready when it's ready, and we're not going to say anything else until we're actually ready for real this time". They stated that there needed to be some more board revisions, but that the design is probably finalized.

That is not a very long wait, especially given some of the challenges the design team has faced, both personal and technical. Want a long wait, try waiting 4 years for a very advanced audio / acoustic measurement system to ship. I've been on the waiting list since Jul of 2010. Looks like the wait is nearly over though and it will be well worth the wait.

Wow, what were you waiting for? That's even longer than the guys over on the BHSE thread have waited!

Spoke to Schiit today about shipping my Ragnarok, and they said "could be several more weeks."  There are a lot of people queued up before me (I ordered on 10/14), so a lot of you will get lucky before I do.  They did get the gain boards, though, so that's something.

Now I have to decide on an interim amp.

Makes me even happier that I caved and bought the Marantz - I just don't have that kind of patience  :D

I keep telling myself "patience is a virtue.", but with recent announcements on the BHSE thread, a recent group buy, and a recent classified post here, I find that life is determined to strip me of an patience. The Yggy fund (and part of my reserve funds for rainy days) got blown on other things, so now I actually want Mike to take his time with the design.

I'm pretty confident that he has the design sorted - it's the implementation that seems to be causing the headaches.

@darinf, wake me when you've got the pigeon pair

All the speculation in purrin's thread has me even more interested in the dac than I was before - we've gone from 'this will be a fantastic DAC for the money' to 'this will single-handedly put high-end audio back on the path it strayed from 20 years ago'.  If expectations were high before, we're talking the north face of K-2 right around now  :D
