Fischer Amps: FA-4 E XB - Rhapsody series (3/4/5 drivers upcoming) - Page 61

I bought a set of the Ortofon tips just to give it a shot and see how that changes the sound. It's a set of tips that I did like when I owned the e-Q7. It's a bit expensive but nowhere near as bad as the cost from musica acoustics. It probably will arrive end of the week or early next.

Also 1964 Ears got back to me and they are saying 1-2 weeks for custom tips to be made which is definitely very tempting since that's a lot shorter than their customs.

Nice, I hope the Ortofon tips help the sound signature a bit for you and it's not just throwing dough out the window...

$14 definitely isn't cheap for tips but I can probably use them with my SA7 as well. It sure beats $35 plus shipping and I can always get custom tips for a reasonable price since I don't need to get impressions done.

Sure have... I've been posting away in the ZX1 thread... :D

So far (I have read it opens up some with about 10 hours burn in) it's sounding fantastic, a noticeable jump over the F807. And it has more power to drive dynamic earphones as well. Regarding the FA-4E, it seems to pair quite well with them. Definitely nothing in the negative!

I'm reserving more detailed impressions until further burn in!

Sorry I just saw your post in that thread 40sec after posting here. Nice addition regarding the side buttons.

I just as you know purchased the Fa's and need a player to use them as I have currently none. Am deciding between this and the fiio X5.

Eagerly await your judgement.

BTW, that "bit of an edge in treble extension" you described will as I have read disappear after a few hours burn-in.

Ah, sorry, I didn't mean any sort of harsh 'edge', just that it has the edge over the F807 in treble presence!

I'll be doing some more listening (music enjoyment) in a bit tonight, but so far I would say there is no reason at all not to get the ZX1 to pair with the FA-4E. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the clarity with the combo I think. Ok-guy mentioned a bit of cold signature, but I don't think it's overly so, at all. To me it just sounds nice and dynamic while being very neutral in sound sig. Perhaps, just a touch, of a leaning on the cooler side. There is no hint of harshness introduced to the FA-4E at all.

If you are going to get custom tips for them I can tell you won't regret it and hope also you can confirm the great upgrade I'm saying they are in sound and also in comfort and isolation.

From what I read, it is very buggy and I don't like that small screen.

Sony ZX-1 - big screen, super sexy tank like build quality and great sound which hopefully will pair up nicely with the Fischers.

Very bugy it's very exagerated. I use it every day and I never had to reset

My advice would be to wainting for the Fiio X5, Sony is a little bit to expensive for their overall performance, to my mind, but buttons and 20h as battery life.

It's certainly tempting right now. I'm sure custom tips would give me a better bit than the ones I;m using now. I'll see after the new year since they will be closed around the time they would arrive via mail anyway.

I have the opposite experience. The DX50 was a frustrating experience having to reset a lot and eventually sold it due to the UI.

After reaching L8 in Ingress, being tired of life, procrastinating my examination work, continuing the separation from my ex and a few other things. I think I might have found some inspiration to start gathering some thoughts that will EVENTUALLY lead up to some kind of new review of the FA-4E. Browsing through tips I, once again, found the meelec balanced tips to give the most secure fit and best sound. The difference in soundstage is remarkable vs something that's closed in like comply T500 or MH1-hybrids. Simply staggering. It's like comparing looking out through a dirty window to cleaning it and finally going outside. I think that's the biggest advantage. Most tips are meh in comparison. Despite the narrow stage of the MH1-hybrids I do like the signature. Albeit somewhat bass heavy and with a tendency to sound sibilant, the mids come through quite unharmed. Going to listen to the cables a bit now.

Cool to see you come back, you've been quiet these past days.

waiting for your impressions with the cable and the meelec balanced tips.

My FA4E are back !! I missed them

Now I could try some new eartips, so Westone Star are usable but they veiled the mids, very comfortable but no... ^_^

Triflange that Sly_in_the_Sky adviced me to buy are excellent, perhaps too long for some people, but as I've done, it's possible to cut them. Now these are biflange :D
