I just got a shipping notification so the wait shouldn't be too long. I would be surprised if these were better than my JH5 custom but I am welcome to be surprised. I think cn11 taking these over the 334 put me over the edge. I know our preferences differ but looks like it can still be enjoyable.

Don't see it as better than your JH5, that are very well tuned earphones. See it as technically better, but don't forgive the emotion ;-/

Hah, well I hope you're not disappointed when you receive them! I hadn't realized you've built up such a collection of top tier CIEMs; I hope the FA4 stacks well enough against them for you.

A point of note is that I think I'm getting a little bump in performance over stock setup with the BTG copper cable and Ortofon tips.

how is the treble with btg copper?

It's very nice. I'd say it doesn't really do anything extraordinary, or detrimental, to the highs... I'm assuming because of the smooth nature of copper cables. It's probably a very good match with the highly detailed style of the FA4. I think the main thing that makes it seem like there's an improvement is the gain in spaciousness with the cable- that's the big thing (well, relatively speaking with cable 'gains'). There seems to be more 'air' in the top end.

Cool thanks my cable improve the soundstage and mids but treble is a bit recessed I'm looking for sturdy alternatives with good treble response

I got mine in grey. I'll be interested in how it compares to my other iem that I suspect has a similar sound in the JH5.

Your Headphone Inventory is enormous, half as bad as mine.:dt880smile:

The general consensus here is that these particular phones tend to grab you after a while and never let go.

It's the difference between what we call in France an audiophile and a melomane (music-lover). Personally I don't hear my earphones, I just want to ear music and that's not a amount of details, separation, freq responses, etc. ;-/ but no problem Kurdt, just respect my point of view, taste and emotion is not a question of freq responses, details, extensions.

Hopefully I'll find out in a week or so. I never knew the existence of such iems until the summer of this year when I tried the 334 and Tralucent 1+2 then. I had no idea these universals that looked like customs were such big players in the universal world so it would be nice to try one out and see how they fare.

My ciems just happened somehow. I went from being very happy with the JH5 to a few impulse buys later at meets to where I'm at now.

I'm gonna try to claim thomman's warranty of the cable the fault is at the end of it, depending of the position the sound is ok or if you move it sound dissapears, the issue is that i cutted the plastic guides to made it more flexible, what do you think? Do i have posiblities? The fault is clearly different to the mod

Rawster believe me these are that good my sm3v2 and ex1000 aren't close to the fa 4e goodness, with custom tips are incredibly good. In fact if they get broken and i didn't have any kind of warranty at this moment i will buy them again as Cecala said once they stay a while with you and you get used to their sound it's difficult to let them go

Another curious thing is that there is not too much inside of the iems, the drivers and few more things, not crazy crossovers...looks a bit empty compared to iems like es sm64

in btw these are two of the best albums of the 80's and every song sounds really really good on the fa 4e, enjoy if you have time and animus

Don't try to get that on warranty. If it's clearly your fault, getting it replaced on warranty is what in the long run can cause Thomann to withdraw their 3 years and instead just offer the standard. That's really pushing it but anyway, just buy a new cable.

but it's not my fault i cutted the plastic guides of the top to made it more flexible, the fault it's at the end of the cable where the cable is attached to the jack  that's why I'm trying to claim it and it's easy to see that fault

If i didn't cutted the plastic guides the fault had happened also, but im 100% sure they wont care about it

Ahaa. I read that it was because of the mod ^^, well do as you wish. I would probably just buy another cable since they're max 30€.
