Aug 19, 2013 at 5:02 PM Post #151 of 2,161
The other guy from Spain have received today the fa 4e xb from my friend ghetto his first impressions are that the fa are nothing short of amazing as i said he owns the w4 and had the 232.

More impressions this guy is going to sell his w4r to buy the fa4e, he find the fa kind of a mix of the um3x with the w4...he also said the fischer perform very good with lot of genres but the w4 perform way better with some movie instrumental soundtracks he likes due the neutral presentation. Anyway is pretty impressed tomorrow more

Yes, you were right all along. You have to understand that I have been on this forum for some time now and have seen people froth at the mouth regarding their particular phone only to find at the end it was nothing special. That's why I, and am sure others too, need a selection of opinions before they decide to purchase or not. There are a lot of young people here and most want a 'in your face' sound. As you get older though, your taste changes and hopefully heads towards refinement and quality.

BTW, can you recommend to me and others a decent although not to expensive cable to replace the stock variant.

Same dilemma as you. Kinda stuck between this and the SM64. I actually planned to get the Chris_Himself cable for the next IEM I got... Relatively attractive price of around 100 bucks, and got really good review, and there's many colors ^_^

From what I've read the Fischers are quite a bit better then the SM64 esp. in the mids and highs.
I am waiting for a comparison between this and the ASG2 and SD3. I have written off the SD3 because of that massive bass boost although still would like to hear someones take on it.

From Eke2k6 "Compared to the SD3, the ASG-2 is immediately much clearer in the mids, and the bass is a good deal more controlled. It's also more extended in the bass and treble. The key difference here is just how much more air there is to the sound. The lower mids of the ASG-2 are a step back, and the more linear FR allows for so much more space for the sound cues to dance. Vocals are more holographic, the bass is deeper, with a lot more texture (Party Rock Anthem is a good test for this), and the signature is faster overall. " . Should help you abit? But I'm worried that the fishers bass might be too much, esp the sub bass... Any idea which has more?

If your asking me about the ASG2 I cannot help you as I don't own them. Although I do know that the SD3 have 12db of bass boost compared to 6db for the Fischers.

While part of me wants more people to discover this new IEM (FA-4E), another part of me really doesn't want that. Why? Just seeing how some dedicated threads develop: the fanboyism, the sweeping statements and generalisations, the hype, the parroting, misinformation, some people with high-post counts playing the expert and giving, er, 'expert' advice (read: often misleading others)... and all their 'expert' recommendations... Have I mentioned all the parroting?  Oh yes, and then there's all that parroting ("Hey, but look, I own all this expensive gear, therefore I know what I'm talking about") and all the nonsense. Oh, nearly forgot, plenty of parroting, too.

Who are you referring to in this thread?

Don't forget the graphs (or the "suckout")!

No promises. Managed to get myself on the Alpha Dog tour so everything on hold until next month :D Still really want the mk3b+ also which is same cost as a new iem. Part of me is conscious of enlarging the collection as we humans only have one pair of ears.

That is precisely why I am avoiding all the middle ground in full size and jumping straight to the top. Not going through same winding journey as in iem :p

And like others also waiting for more user reviews of these

The graphs themselves and the "suckout" thing were/are not the problem, but how that information has been used—the attitude, that is. Mind you, while I have been quite vocal at times about such attitude, too, I wasn't quite referring to that aspect in particular in my previous post. But, you're right, that, too, can be quite detrimental.

I intentionally left out the subject of shills, or people who effectively act as shills—the latter being those with very cosy relationships to certain manufacturers, people who get freebies or very generous discounts. If only more people knew how some of the people, many unsuspecting head-fiers regard quite highly, actually have not just a clear bias but something a little more serious than that. But, this is not the place to discuss this or some of these people's antics and agendas.
