O.K... so I have had my Sony ZX-1 now for 3 weeks and the FA-4's for slightly longer than that although the two needed to come together for the marriage. At the moment I cannot get a good seal with all the included tips although the large Comply offer the best seal out of the bunch. The sound is totally without merit unless you get a proper seal with these phones as is known. I cannot provide any opinions until my little problem is solved.

Kurdt bada has suggested the following tips:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DURONIC-TRIPLE-FLANGE-EARPHONE-BUDS-TIPS-FOR-MONSTER-BEATS-EARPHONES-/151110437258?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item232ee2498a

and
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Westone-STAR-Silicone-Tips-Medium-LONG-size-red-eartips-10-pack-/390597088422?pt=US_Headphones&hash=item5af16694a6

Although these are the 'Red' ones and I would get the 'Orange' type being larger.

Kurdt, I would like to know how you inserted these Westone STAR Silicone Tips on without damage and more importantly can they be removed without damage to the phones?

Any other suggestions for tips from like afflicted people?

I recommend the Monster Triple flanges.  They make the vocals more forward for those who like that type of sound.

I'm sure Kurdt can advise on this better, but I would be careful about forcing the Westone STARs on.  While the Fischer Amps are not fragile, I can imagine the nozzles would crack if the tips were pulled off with too much force.

Hi Cecala I'll go with the mosnter tri flanges instead the star tips, the fit is perfect with outstanding isolation and really good sq and as lolhart said you have to force the star tips to fit the amps

Sensorcom biflanges arrived. Bass is big. Ok balance in mids. Veil is not so present. Treble is good. Smooth but extended. My problem is the same as the Mh1c hybrids; soundstage. The sound is very directed towards the ears. Ambiance is lost compared to Meelec balanced with comply tubes. But definitely among the better ones I've tried.

They definitely fit UE900 better to my taste. Also way better comfort. The longer stem is a plus. Good sound and comfort on the UE900.

Agree sensorcom biflanges are one of the best sounding tips definitely brighter and clearer sound compared to most of stock tips

Got my Westone star tips today best tips i've tried so far im in love from fit to sound to comfort to quality just loving them. My ears tell me the vocals are pulled forward a touch no veil large soundstage beautiful treble sparkle and bass that reaches deep  ! Try em they are a pain in the ass to fit on though

dnun do you think the fa 4e are an upgrade over the phonaks?

Hum I want to be careful with my words in one sense yes there's more clarity also the amps have an overall better balance. However although the phonak can be a bit treble happy with the right amp pairing timber is outstanding I prefer the soundstage on the amps but the phonaks is more realistic. So I would say yes they are but not by a massive amount. I think in this hobby it comes down to an individuals idea of worth it and for me the amps are smily_headphones1.gif. Any comparisons to the sennheiser ie800 ?

Nice comparation there are some impressions between the ie 800 and the fa 4e in the first post it seems some people find the ie 800 a bit better technically but prefer the balance of the fa 4e and they also feel both are in the same league while other people like music_4321 or darkbeat prefer the fischer amps over the ie 800, so it seems is more a preference than a clear winner, what it seems is that the amps have a much better fit, detachable cables....

If you're looking for the last few % of performance then it could be worth it but it's the ultimate form of diminishing returns in my opinion.
