No I'm just a common slut whore who puts out lots and lots. It's all about numbers for me...

I still think it's amazing value for $$ with the FA-4E... Heck it is right in the same league overall as the 846, and I think it outperformed my TG334, which was $1,350.

I find the value of the fa4 to be very good as well. I'm not sure how high universals go really since I don't own any of the popular 1k priced iem's but I'd be surprised if they outperformed the fa4 easily.

On another note I was thinking about the 846 since I haven't owned a Shure iem since the e4 so it might be time.

It works better with the fa4 after I got the hang of it which makes sense considering I sent my iem's in. I'm just going to have them on the fa4 and keep the Mentor as it is. I could use them at work as isolation isn't the best and easier to remove that custom tips.

While I do own the Mentor I have no idea how it compares against the se846, tg334, etc.

This has always been on my mind as well. Some people here buy these things like lollies. They must be affiliated to some outfit as below.

Yes I do. It's a bit less warm but the bass goes a bit lower. However not too much change in sound other than warmth.

I never said I bought them for movies... geez. I scrap and save for every piece of gear I buy, and pass on a lot of things that I would like to give a go, as I do not believe in credit card debt. I have been eying the 846 for a long time, and finally decided to get a pair on the trip. I said they were surprisingly enjoyable for the movies on the flight, which was a fun discovery. That is all.

And instead of an IEM for whims and when the mood strikes, the 846 has become everyday listening IEM, fyi. I'll probably wind up selling the FA-4E because while close performing, it does not hold up technically now that I have found the best sounding tips for the 846.

Yeah I understand that you didn't buy them for movies but it looked a bit better and... well... punchier.

talking about shopping I've been listening today to this album which sounds incredible through the amps and my portable rig! one of the best sounding albums I've heard on my amps clear and punchy as hell with insane separation
