Fischer Amps: FA-4 E XB - Rhapsody series (3/4/5 drivers upcoming) - Page 68

So I got a nice package in the mail today :) A Concero HP came in today. I was thinking about selling my Anedio D1 as I never use it except for iems and I figure I could save some space with something smaller that's more suited for iems and that seemed to be the ticket. The FA-4 is not very picky with what it is connected to similar to most of the iems I have owned and really liked. It sounds great from my ZX1, X3 and now the Concero HP. I can't really remember how much I paid for the FA-4 but it seems like money well spent on such a nice iem. It is definitely a deviation in sound from the rest of my iems as the rest of them (UERM, JH13, V6 Stage) all are much closer to neutral although some closer than others. The FA-4 is definitely more of a "fun" iem but it is also meant for stage use so it makes sense that the bass is more prominent.

It's a bit more forgiving than my customs but not by much. It sounds very good from my flac files that are mixed well but if I play something that's brickwalled it doesn't sound as good. On another note I need to stop buying iems and buy more cds and stuff from hdtracks and the like.

Rawrster,

.............It is definitely a deviation in sound from the rest of my iems as the rest of them (UERM, JH13, V6 Stage)......

Can you give a rating out of 10 for each of the above phones and then do the same with the Fischers.

All compared to each other. I am curious.

It's better to wait till rawster receive his custom tips to make a more complete comparation between the fa 4e and his customs

Thanks, but I am going to pass on those since delivery is another 10euros, bringing the price up to 20euros. Not worth it imo. I am going to try these ones from ebay. Do you think they'll be the same?

I've always found it hard to compare universal vs custom. I also don't like rankings like that since it's so subjective but this can be what I feel now.

JH 13 - 9.5

UERM - 9

V6 Stage - 8.9

FA-4 - 8

The numbers are just arbitrary. I do find the JH13 to be a step above the rest of what I have. However signature differences aside I find the V6 Stage and UERM very close. That definitely makes the V6 Stage a good deal at the price I got it for. Lastly the FA-4 is not quite as good but still good overall. The difference does depend on what source I am using but it does have a lower ceiling than my customs in terms of how much it scales up. If I go from my X3 to my ZX1 and then to my D1 the difference in ability increases slightly. Of course diminishing gains are something to be considered at this price range. You don't get 2x the ability with the JH13.

I don't know if I'll get them anymore. The company I was going to get them at removed it from their website so sent them an email to see if they still offer it or not. I contacted this other place and if they don't do it either I'll probably pass. I hope I'll still be able to get them however.

thanks for your impressions, I rate the fa 4e with custom tips in a scale of 100 at least 5 points above than with stock tips so they'll be closer to your customs then hehe but I would like to see someone to confirm my impressions xD and I also understand the differences you pointed.

in btw which companies are you trying with?

I wanted to go with 1964 Ears since they already have my impressions but after they changed their website last weekend the option was gone. I also asked Inearz if they do that just to see since I'm planning a reshell. I just don't have any desire to go with a place I'm not already planning on doing something else since impressions are expensive. The tips probably average at $125 or so and impressions are $75 so I'm not spending $200 on tips. One place I might consider is CustomArt since their tips are cheap but probably not if I have to send in my iems with it.

Audiologists need to take the next step IMO. Either start using 3D scanners to "store" impressions, or go old school and make inverse ear molds from your impressions so that they can create a new pair without you going in. They'd still charge obviously, but it could be less and more importantly to me, I wouldn't have to go in again, cuz it was hard to make the time during business hours.

Guys
Have bought and returned SD3 (too cloudy in mids from the awesome bass), and SD2 (too boring after SD3). Are the FA 4 the middle ground I'm after? Preferred SD3 to SD2, was tempted to buy the SD3 again, then saw the amps. Whatddya think guys?

check the first post you have a direct comparation between sd3 and fa 4e among reviews, comparations and more stuff

The fa 4e have a balance signature slightly in V.  sparkly treble, awesome bass extension with kick ass sub bass and mids are really good too transparent and present as well

Yes thanks for that. My question really was directed at someone who may have all three. It sounds like the Amps are the way to go. Do love the build quality of the stagedivers though.

I don't think anyone really has all three.

Anyway I'll be getting the custom tips after all through 1964 Ears. They did reply saying they would do it but the sleeves are being phased out which is disappointing.

Cool rawster dying to see your impressions with them!

Helliuscc if you search there is also a comparation between the sd2 and the fa4e by music_4321, what it seems is that almost everyone here have prefered the fischer amps to the sd's
