To the point -- It sounds F***ing fantastic with the Mad Dogs!

It's an interesting change from my Magni. Going to have it setup at today's LA meet on Hiyono & Azynneo's table if anyone wants to give it a try with their Orthos.

Yup....biggrin.gif

I know the MD's aren't small, but I think they are fine as portable headphones. Obviously IEM's are easier to carry around, but I don't really see the difference in portability between different full size headphones. When I leave the house with my T50rp's, I have a headphone bag I carry them and my portable amp in.

Something about the Mad Dog's.  Love the look.  It's all business, efficient.  They should be dressed along with a suit, lol.

From today's Los Angeles meet. Apparently they are fully functional. Quite impressive work.

This was so awesome to see. That and free candy. What more could you want?

The price, the price. Like an old witch lures you to her candy house and will imprison you and will eat you but in this case it would be your wallet.

I asked a little while ago about DAC and AMP recommendations and was told that the Bitfrost/Asgard 2 would be good step up from Magni/Modi...but I am now eyeing the Bitfrost/Lyr. Do a few of you own the Lyr, and if so, what sort of Tubes do you like in comparison to the ones that came stock with the amp?

I am just playing with the idea of getting a better setup at home...or replacing the one at work, but it is kind of hard to tell which type of amp (tube or SS) I would prefer since I have never owned a Tube amp. So I just want to get a better idea as to how much it would cost for a Tube amp setup for a Mad Dog headphones (don't own the balanced version...just upgraded to 3.2 (from 3.0).

You could also consider the project sunrise ii, or project ember. Can be had for a bit cheaper and they have good reviews. Not as sexy looking though.

If you have patience, have time, no crush, want to try DIY project then google or search in this forum. Bottlehead DIY projects such as S.E.X II, it can drive ortho well such as LCD-2/3, tube rolling or upgradable parts. It is good to start a tube set up and it is as good value as Mad Dog.
