Do the Balanced/Universal Maddogs come with a balanced to 3.5mm adaptor wire or something similar.

We'll have a 3.5mm cable soon, within two weeks.

Hi, Is somebody using the MD on a Wooaudio firefly? Would appreicate some feedback.

Couple of questions:

 - What's with the version numbers? Is the creator continually improving the headphones and releasing new versions of the product occasionally?

 - Can you get them without the writing on the side? I'm considering them for work since my A900s were stolen and the A900X's support system sucks, but having "mad dog" written on the side would probably rule them out.

 - I see references to Fostex headphones. Are these just modified Fostex or something?

 - What's with the pad discussion? The only option I see on their website are alpha pads and a comfort strap.

1. Yes, there have been updates/improvements

2. I'm pretty sure you can get them plain

3. Yes, they are a modified Fostex T50rp

4. There have been 3 different pads through the life of the Mad Dog's. First being the Shure SRH840 pads, then the Dog Pads, and now the Alpha pads

Interesting, thanks. What do they do to modify them? Is it just the pads and some kind of tuning, or do they replace the drivers and other components?

Stock drivers, different pads, and some special dampening in the cups.

Orthos and tubes don't go well together, never know though.

Interesting. The original headphones are only around $120. I'm surprised dampening and pads can make this sound better than the LCD2/LCD3, which cost $1000 - $2000, and I have to wonder why it's so expensive.

I would shelve the assumption and try and find a demo. These are definitely worth the money.

LCD2 sounds beautiful on my cheap tubes ...

but the HE-6 sounds tattered though,

so it depends.

my mental sum went this way in the beginning...if i try to mod this on my own :

t50rp .................120

alphapads..........60

v moda cable.....50?

headstrap..........50

satin bag...........20

tuning................ how many man hours..?

postage charges for all the individual items

So the MADDOGS are definitely not overpriced, for modding wannabes like me tongue.gif
