I can at least tell you that I really like the pairing of the Magni with the 3.2s (you will find that there are others that agree with this). It sounded too dark out of a Fiio E07k that I had previously and I don't think the Fiio had enough power to really bring out the best in these cans...

I didn't find the MDs to be overly picky with amplification.  I enjoyed them with a Matrix M-stage but I liked them even more with the 02 amp and Yulong d100 amp which are less dark then the M-stage.  If you don't want an overly dark sound stick with a neutral amp and I don't think it\ will disappointed.  I think the Magni would be hard to beat at its price.

Tyll at Innerfidelity was kind enough to test the Alpha and Mad Dog Pro (note it says Mad Dog, but it is the Pro model). The link is Mad Dog

If anyone is interested I am auctioning a pair of  Mad Dog Pro's that have about 75 hours on them. They sound great and feel great. I got them second hand as a package deal and just don't need them.

I need some advice. Is $300 a fair price for low-use Mad Dog Pros? Thanks!

Tempt me so soon after getting the MDPs haha.

Question, what is MrSpeakers official line on burn in? Been following the HE560 thread and the Hifiman reps have been talking about doing a 250hour burn in before giving impressions, because the MagPlanar drivers need to burn in/work themselves out etc.

Would the MDP/T50RP drivers be similar in that they need a bit of burn in to really shine?

Edit: I ask this, because i've had my MDPs on burn in for the past few days. Throwing them on tonight, they really feel like they've opened up a bit and bass slam has more impact. May be my brain making stuff up, though.

I usually say 40-100 hours.

I'm extremely interested in a pair of these, but I'm not sure about some things. I was told by Dan that when the Mad Dogs first came out, they had a really awesome design on the side, with a carbon finish. Later, only the carbon finish, and now it looks like it only says Mad Dog. However, I've seen sellers claiming to sell the Mad Dog, but there's no text on the side at all, what gives?

Are these self-modded Mad Dog replicas, or have they become even more minimalist over time?

also: is there any way to still get that cool design?
