This is my only complaint as well. I just have the monitors and most of the time it is a non issue. But when I'm in the mood to shake the room i'm left wanting for a sub.

Hey guys, I'm not a mod but suggest you don't get OT.  That can be a reason a thread closes...

Thanks...  :-)

The Chicago meet went really well, it was a great group, with tons of amazing gear. dBel84 brought a box of vintage orthos along, that was a treat to see and hear.

Ray Samuels was there with his balanced Intruder, I'm amazed he crammed so much power into such a small box, AND a DAC. Centrance is almost ready to ship their balanced portable unit, which looked nice.  I was too busy to hear them though.  Also a few owners were there; it was nice to meet them!

Any balanced owners besides Aamesford going to post reviews?

Just got these headphones and was wondering if the O2 amp would be a good pairing? Anyone here have the two and can give me an honest opinion?

I didn't have the O2 and the MD at the same time. Based on memory I'd call it adequate. The MD scales pretty well with power, so if you give it more it will sound better.

I definitely don't need ear-blistering volume levels, and price is a big factor and therefore the 130 dollar O2 looks like a steal to me.

I heard my MD's and a couple of O2's in a meet this year. I recall the pairing being pretty decent. Going on 6 month old memory though.

I would say the Magni is a better buy, especially if the Mad Dogs are your only can.

Is your recommendation based on bang for buck or overall performance?

I might later get some IEM's also.

Many say the O2 and Magni are very similar. I thought the O2 had a bit better SQ in regards to dynamics and neutrality. The Magni was a bit too harsh for brighter headphones. I had the Magni for a bit with the DT990s and K702 Annies, both were a bit strident with the Magni. But... like I said, if your only cans are the MDs, which are darkish by nature, then the synergy should very good. The Magni also has quite a bit more power than the O2 and is cheaper overall. So I would say value wise, the Magni is better. I would only get the O2 if you plan to get some neutralish headphones/earphones.

I would put my money on the $189 Emotiva a-100 and the Can Opener.  Pair this with a ODAC or Modi and you are in the house..
